Question TOPIC: Share Suggestions On Items To Make Ur House/Office/ Apt. Smell Nice.

Hi Im Sharon and Im an Alcoholic.

I moved into my apartment back
in December. I keep it nice just
like i did with my home back in
Houston.

Even tho i have a few plugins to
make it smell ok...im looking for
other suggestions on how to get
my apt. to smell awesome each
time i walk in the door.

I notice when i walk in the door
of my apt. office...it smells AWESOME.

I may need to go ask them what they
use....until then...

What do u use at ur own office
or home...or something ud like
to try and havent just yet.

Ok, lets get our homes smelling
good...

Hi Sharon - Like my place to smell nice too - my ex used to have me bake bread - awesome smell - I did the cinamon in water and simmer thing we have leaves here we make into a bouquet and when dry they give off a kind of vanilla smell - a real "green" idea!

Nothing like fresh baked bread...mmmm...
I close my eyes and imagine it....yum
Now im hungry...lol

Im not sure if the neighbors smoke,
but there r times when i do walk in i smell
smoke...oh yeah now i remember..the dude
next door has a small hibatchi outside filled
with cigarette butts...

No wonder i smell smoke...lol

I do have some scented candles

But thats not enough....What about a time
sensored spray....or a aroma theraphy that plays
those records..how does that work?

Then i just bought a plugin fan and it helps....
but i would need more than one....I kinda like
the idea of circulating the frangrance....

More suugestions please.... : )

I really like incense, Sharon. And while I can get it cheap at the dollar store I've found that the slightly more expensive stuff burns longer and smells much better. For around $5 you can get a simple holder and enough to last a month or so.

And yes, it does give me some kinda strange Zen/Buddhist peaceful serene feeling to burn the stuff;-)

The stuff that's actually made in India smells very nice, and you can even get gourmet/designer scents that are awesome. The mass produced stuff can have a smell that's too smoky rather than being pleasing/soothing to the senses. Buy a stick or two of good incense and give it a shot. At the most you'll be out fifty cents.

I have a small pot porrei (sp?) crock pot.
In it, I put 1/2 an apple, cut up; a cinnamon stick or two; some nutmeg and some cloves. Apple pie, anyone?
Plug it in, and it smells for days! I keep adding water as needed.

Shalom!

It will smell awesome. I like lots of cinnamon and clove is nice too, but it can be strong, so use sparingly. I use the cinnamon sticks.

I burn incense too and agree that the cheap stuff isn't worth the money- the scent doesn't last and it burns too quickly.
I also like to have homemade potpourri- I have some in a huge bowl made from some pink and yellow flowers from my yard. I haven't added scent to it although you can easily do that with essential oils from the healthfood store or a specialty store that sells fine soap. You can add the oil to just about anything...dried leaves, seed pods, pinecones, dried flowers etc.
There is another way to use oils for scent but I don't remember the name of it. It's a ring/saucer that fits over the socket in a lamp...you add the oil and when the light is on the heat from the bulb activates the scent.

Thanks cmc..i saw some little oil beads? How do u use
those? I was looking for some sort of container they would
go with but didnt see it....They r pea size beads if not smaller..

And yes i do remember the ring on the lamps...i forgot about
that one....

I often go to Walmart like most and only see what
eveyone else sees....there r probably other places
to find unusual frangrances for ur home, right?

Orange or Lemon peels on the garbage disposal with a little hot water makes the kitchen smell yummy!!!
Sometimes I put a dryer sheet in front of the heater vents, I attach it to the grate with a paper clip...smells fresh through the whole house.
A drop of your favorite perfume on a light bulb will smell womderful when you turn it on, I like Obsession.

I also love the smell of lemon furniture polish....
Not only does it make my furniture looking
nice but the house smells fresh too....

Unless u polish furniture everyday...i lose that
scent quickly...too bad they dont make a plug
in...or i could use a lemon pledge wipe in the vents?
hmmmm....but then the air would dry it out too quick.
Right?

Tom, Im glad u appreciate what ur wife does to make
ur home smelling nice for u and urs.

Appreciating that and saying so is AWESOME...

In the summer, I take my favorite oil scent and dip a fuzzy pipe cleaner in it...I wrap that around one of the vent openings in one or more rooms , the whole house smells good!!! The wire in the pipe cleaner keeps it in place.!

I also use fuzzy pipe cleaners to clean the straw portion of "Sippy cups" so I always have them on hand, not much that is more gross than a sippy cup straw after a child uses it, right after eating crackers...ewwww

I change the litter box more *LOL*

Lets see... I have strawberry apple scented candle by the computer.
I have apple cinnamon in the kitchen and a cinnamon in the bedroom.
The Christmas pine is about gone. I always like that one no matter what.
When spring gets here...fresh lilacs would be wonderful.
When summer gets here... I am close enough to the salt water that a strong summer breeze can carry the salt air inland enough to fill the air.
The salt air along with some fresh cut daisies fills the nose and the eyes.

surly....that is such a good idea!!! i have always thought about that! how to put air freshener in the vents......i'm gonna do that!

sharon....my mom swore by pouring pine sol down her drains......and not running water down them for a while....you wouldn't guess how many odors come from your drains...ask a plumber...lol....she used lavender scented.....

febreeze febreeze febreeze.......can't say enough about it.....i get the super strength and use it on my carpet, curtains, furniture, you name it.....i like to do it right before i leave the house, so it's dry by the time i get home....and the house smells so good when i walk in it....and the febreeze air effects spray is awesome........

at night, my mom would spray a little perfume on her light bulbs......just a touch.....and the whole house would smell good...

Dryer sheets are awesome for smells - also now that you are in
