Question TOPIC: What Kind Of Pets Do You Have And What Are Their Names?

Hi Im Sharon and Im an alcoholic.

By the Grace of my HP and people like
you here in SR I havent had a drink of
alcohol since 8-11-90. For that and you
Im truely grateful.

I grew up without pets. With a family
of 6 that was more than enough to
handle back in those days.

When i got older, got married and
had kids I still refused to have pets.
It was one of those old tapes that
kepted playing in my head about pets
being more of a problem...i was given
the wrong message about animals....

10 yrs ago when we moved here to
Houston,,,,my husband asked me if I
wanted a kitten...emmediately I said no.

I thought about it for a day and something
changed my mind and i gave in. My daughter
went to get one from a litter and brought it
home....It was sooooooo cute....we named it
Lucky....then like i thought about my own
kids...one child wasnt enough, i wanted my
son to have a sibling to grow up with and
thus had a daughter....

We went back to get a second kitten so
Lucky would not be alone. We tried for the
little sister but without success.....however
there was one little fat kitten that kept going
into the cage and we kept taking him out....

We left that night without the second kitten...

the more we thought about it...we figured the little
brother was the one meant to come home with us....

and so they brought us the little fat kitten
and we named it Gus from the little Disney
Cinderella movie.... The cute little mouse names Gus...

: ) BG BIG GRIN

And so my 2 cats are gifts in recovery and i
love them soooooooo much. We have also had 3
birds....2 cockateils which passed away....

Cinnamon and Sunshine....we still have the cute
little peached faced Love Bird called Peady.
Beautiful green feather bird with pretty blues
and orange, reds in its feathers....

And fish....

So what is ur story on ur pets?

Clive is my 8 year old American Eskimo. He and his brother Buster are on my avatar playing in the bathtub. I had to put Buster down 2 years ago due to brain cancer. Clive is the one outside the tub cheering Buster on!!! I live alone, so I don't know what I would do without my Clive. He certainly has benefited from my sobriety!

I have 2 cats.... Julio and Carlos! They're SR kitties! LOL!

They're both very bad cats! Julio is just strange... he collects bottle caps! And Carlos is a big chicken! Each night when we go to sleep, they spend that time rearranging the livingroom.... apparently they have their own ideas about interior decorating!!!!!!

I love it....don't our pets make us laugh and smile?
They bring such joy to our lives. Yep, those
little things they do unexpectantly or catch
us off guard.

My boys....as I call them....which are brothers...
one could be sitting nearby to me keeping me
comapny, then ill look away for a few moments
and go back to pet him and the 2 have already
switched places....What? Am i seeing things...
: ) Both of my cats are indoor cats....they are
healthy and loved and well fed and groomed.

I can't imagine ever going thru life without
them...and to think I allowed someone else to
make me think differently.....just cause someone
else doesnt care for pets doesnt make it right
to make that same decision for others.

My sobriety pets have been teaching me about
that unconditional love most people talk about
with their pets....It helps us to use that same
kind of love or at least think about it with our
own family and friends. However that task is
much harder.

Anyway....My 2 cats and birds have definitely
allowed me to learn about the joys of having
pets in my life.

I hope urs are doing the same.

Please feel free to share ur stories about
ur pets with us.

Thanks for letting me share.

i have 1 siamese cat whose name is diana she is 9 years old, spoiled rotten and over the last 6 weeks has become even more spoiled and attached to my hip...literally.....

i had to put her mommy to sleep about 6 weeks ago...her name was missy...she was 11 years old and has a recurrence of breast cancer that has metastasized to her stomach and intestines.....missy...was also very very spoiled....but every very loved......

now with mommy gone...diana has decided that i am here to be her mommy and i WILL pay attention to her 24/7 period end of discussion!!!!

i also have a 5 year old poodle named snowball....he is just as spoiled as the cat...although diana freaks snowball because she wants him to groom her like her mommy used to and of course dogs don't groom each other like cats do....so the dog kinda gets scared sh*tless when she comes around looking to get groomed!!!! but anyway.....

so that is my house.....

me, my dad, 2 kids, 2 cats, 1 dog, and 1 pain in the a$$ brother!!!!

Careful Siamese cats that bond to owner become very protective. Any repair person like cable, heating, lights, ect. Besure to lock your cat up and save yourself the liabilty and the repair person pain. Its true look it up hundreds of attacks by Siamese cats no deaths but, I would hate to be the first owner.

I'm a volunteer at an animal shelter. Besides fostering kittens too young to be adopted, we have:

A pug named Doug
A cat named Claudia
A cat named Rainbow
A cat named Archie

And in memorium to my loved pets lost in the last year: Reggie, our beloved boy, Gretel, it was a week on Friday, Annabel, who was 20 years old, Aunt Ida, my beloved pug, and Murphy. I loved you all.

i have 7 cats who all have their quirks: Tabby (one eyed, and 21 years old), Amigo (weighs almost 25 lbs), Sambi (actually thinks that she's a dog), Gypsy (6 months, likes to rip a hole in the protective covering underneath couches and mattresses and climb inside), Beebs (totally blind, but plays fetch with a wiffle ball), Lily (only has 3 legs), and Clyde (has a tail that the vet says is twice as long as a regular cats tail). They're a fun bunch!

oops!

i forgot about my dog skippy! he's about 14 and lives outside. he's the sweetest dog you'll ever meet, and also one of the strongest. when i was young i would harness him up and sit in my grandpas wheelchair and let him pull me down the road, he'd go for a good 2-3 miles before he got tired. he used to be able to clear a 9 foot fence without any hesitation, that's before the arthritis took it's toll. my favorite picture of him is an old one where he has a motorcycle tire around his neck rambo style, that used to be his favorite toy. when christmas comes i'll post up pictures of how i decorate his doghouse. he has 3 angels, a star, icicle lights, and net lights that cover the roof. you'd think a dog would destroy such a display, but he's really proud of his snoopy/griswold house!

Oddles of Poodles! I have 4 poodles
Friskers O'Toodle is actually a poodle +russsel terrier mix...All White in color. He was supposed to be a purebred poodle. I got him online from Texas..I shoudl have known to be suspicious when she told me since I wasnt; breeding I did not need a registered dog...He is very smart and even uses the Litter box But he has seperation aniexity so we got him a play mate...
Miss Shaste Belle Is a AKC registered Toy Poodle she is the queen bee around here..she was supposed to be "my" dog but she is very attached to my hubby. She is cream with beautiful silver ears. She is a chatter box too..She does all the talking!
Then we got Mr. Kodi Odiea registered toy poodle who was purely dark apricot in color all the way back for 4 generations..Unfortunatly he was not a good match for Friskers and they fought all the time. SO Kodi had to go..but he left his legacy behind...he got Shasta Pregnant!
We kept 2 of the pups. she had a total of 5 which is large for a toy. 4 males and 1 lone female.
Ripper is a multi colored mostly black and silver colored with a few apricot spots for good measure. And Spot is what is commonly known as a parti poodle he is White with Black spots. His behind is one large black spot but his tail is white so he looks like he has a target on his bum but the center keeps moving!
Years ago breeders would have destroyed these two pups because they were not of pure color. These are the two that we kept.

Nemo looked just like his daddy a pure apricot but took after his mom is temperment and size. I gave him to my nephew who has a heart condition and has a pace maker. He came to see the pups on the day they were born and when his mom was helping me to take pictures of the pups we were not looking and he had Nemo by the neck...when we told him he couldn't hold the pups yet he just said ok and dropped poor nemo...but Nemo and Caleb were meant to be buds! He came by often and was always attracted to Nemo..
I sold the male Chocolate COCOcolored to a family with 3 boys all hockey players...they loved Him!
and the female Miss Lulu Bellelooked like her mom and was a dark cream color was sold also as a birthday present for an only child who turned 14...she was in heaven.

So I have 4 poodles ...Ripper and Spot sit on either side of my hubby and he says they are better then heating pads on his sore hips...and Shasta prefers to lay close by not too close but no too far...and Friskers is tucked tight to my side.
I love my oodles of Poodles!!

Thumbs up

The four legged love of my life is Annie Mae...

She is a 4 year old rescue pup, half toy poodle, half chihuahua. I think more of her than many people...

She has stayed by my side giving me licks and love even on my darkest days.

I love animals.

Steve

Good evening Sharon...

Yes, I agree 100%. They will never lie to us, betray us, be mean to us, or rip us off, well maybe if we leave our dinner plate laying around, lol.

My Jack Russell

I just joined this forum tonight...and have been getting a lot of good information. My husband and I have a Jack Russell Terrier named Dixie. We adopted her from a rescue. She had been previoulsy abused. When we got her she had a large ulcur on her eye where she had been sprayed in the eye with ammonia. It took her several months to warm up to us but one night she finally jumped on my lap and things have been getting better since then. She is the sweetest girl and we take her everywhere with us. I still can't believe someone would treat her so badly.
