Do I really need this Groupon?

I've never purchased so many things I never knew I wanted in my life! WTH? I've purchased enough manicures, pedicures, massages, facials, dinners, fitness classes and whatever else they're peddling to last me until who knows when.

I've even subscribed to mydealbag so now I can be notified of no less than 15 different online deal sites daily in one neat little email.

Ahhhh...but it feels....so.....good..... HELP!

I have to be so careful because I can get addicted to on-line shopping very quickly. I get a high from buying but I also have to remember the other side and that is called buyers remorse when I know I have bought a whole bunch of crap that I either don't need or can't really afford.
I have learned through recovery that I have an addictive personality. I also learned that when I get into that behavior there is usually something going on with me that I am trying to run from or not deal with.
Anyway just my 2 cents worth whether it applies to this situation or not?

Oh wow, what you describe is an addiction the same as any other. I broke the impulse purchase thing by forcing myself to wait a day and if I still felt I had to have the thing I bought it, most often though I didn't.

Booze and E-Bay are a really dangerous combination for the compulsive buyer. I once got plastered on vodka and valium and loged on to E-Bay, that experience cost me over 10k. When you're drunk the whole bidding on things process seems really cool. That night I wound up buying over 3k worth of watches from a Singapore dealer and a Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The impulse buying issue really has nothing to do with drinking, the booze just relaxes all restraint and normal inhibitions. My mom who died several years ago and never drank had the same issue with QVC + HSN, the UPS guy was at her house every other day.

Like I said the simple fix is to force yourself to wait a day. If the deal says you have to act now or the offer will be gone then let it be gone, it's just a high pressure sales tactic.

I like to shop too....but do not have a lot of free time.

I do the wait a day too....i have many idle shopping carts.

my big rule is free shipping for most items and paybacks from the site. I've replaced a lot of impulse buying in a store by using Drugstore.com (5% back and they have EVERYTHING like wlmart and sephora all rolled into one)

I can relate....that groupn is something else...I cant pass up the deals especially the spa treatments. I have MANY shopping carts waiting that I dont have the $ to pay for yet. The deals are too good to pass up. I buy my arts and crafts supplies online; Michaels wants twice the price. I swear they get 'em from the sites I am ordering from!

I don't feel, at this point anyways, that it's an addiction yet that's certainly an interesting way of looking at it that I'll consider!

They have a Bath and Body works one that runs a couple times per year that is awesome!
