Six Below Zero ... and dropping in Montana

YIKES!

It's -6° here in Butte - going down to -20°tomorrow

with a 'high' of -5°!

<----this guy's face is stuck to the window!

Spent the morning plugging in heat tape -
(the apt building is 130 years old... pipes need help when it gets like this)
and attaching blankets to all the windows, doors, etc.

Since the building's so old...
it didn't have electricity till 1900.
So if the power goes out;
which it never has, but *if*
I still have heat.

Because it's two separate systems.

But I'd have to watch my dvd's by candlelight...har.har.

Got me some movies to watch,
got my fleece afghan for the couch;
made up some 'snuggy' food ...

Just thought I'd share the temp
since for some folks... it's summer.

oh yeah -

conversion is this:

-6° (faren.) = -21.11111111111 (celsuis)

-20° (f) = -28.888888888888 (c)

Zowie.

Yikes! Stay warm barb. Supposed to get cold and rainy here tomorrow. Cold in Phoenix means below 60

And make sure your Big Book is the last thing you burn to keep warm

I just went out to crank the car and let it run for a bit.
I don't finish here until midnight,
and I don't want any 'surprises'...
like a frozen up car when I'm wanting to get home.

When it's this cold,
the insides of your pants leg gets so cold
(in a matter of seconds)
you walk like you wet yer pants
to keep them from touching skin

A sad aspect, though,
and there's always a few of them each year...
a twenty three year old 's body
was found
in his neighbor's back yard.

They think he was walking home
and hypothermiated
got that freezing confusion
and couldn't find his way back out of the yard.

How very sad.

I joke about it
but it's a deadly cold.

Wow, ((Barb)), I'll stop complaining when it gets down to the 20's here!

That's so sad about the 23-year-old.

I hope you are nice and warm, now, since you should be home. They mentioned the "snow" word, here this weekend, but we didn't get any. Good thing, too, since people in Atlanta have no CLUE how to drive in it!

Hugs and prayers!

Amy

This Canadian knows all about that. Solution = tights or long underwear....not pretty but let you walk. You are actually north of where I live in Canada, so if you need a trip to the deep south, you can always come visit me

Winter is late arriving here, but it's here now, snow and all.

Always keep your head, hands and feet warm, the rest will follow.

Heading to Florida for Christmas helps too, lol, wanna come?

I live in Mississauga, in southern Ontario - pretty far south for a Canadian.

I live in the desert southwest Kelly, so Canada is pretty much the Arctic to me What's your weather like there?

We've actually got a blizzard moving through northern Arizona today, 1-2' of snow expected from the Grand Canyon over to the White Mountains. Lots of rain and flooding expected for Phoenix and the rest of the state. These are winter conditions for us.

- 17 at 3:30pm today when I came to work.

but - nothing froze in the apartment.
was far from WARM... but not frozen up.
A 120 year old building
hasn't got much by way of insulation.

The car was sorta sluggish, tho.
I haven't a block heater onnit.

glad y'all czan relate
I'd hate to keep all this
*uniqueness*
to myself!

well,
we can do that 'throw the water' thing.

Youknow?

You take a pitcher of water
and you throw it at someone
(outside)
and before it can get to them

it turns to snow.

I mean it's ok for a laugh.
Like... once.

I remember when it got around -50, it was so bad they shut the town down.
Our pipes froze, we only had fire, omg.. it was insane.

Crazy thing is, it is 50' right now and I am so cold I think my blood is going to freeze. I've no idea how i managed that....

Stay safe and as warm as you can. Get lots of firewood!

That is so sad about the person who passed away. I remember that happening to several during that -50 below thing we had.

Stay safe and inside!
