Baseball?

Anyone else follow baseball besides moi?

I'm a big baseball fan and a loyal Dodger fan since birth. My folks joke that its because there were two things constant in my room when I came home after being born: my teddy bear and a radio tuned into Vin Scully.

Anyway, I figured by the time post-season came around there would be a thread here but don't see it. Wondering who other folks would like to see in the World Series. I can deal with either a Freeway series (Dodgers vs Angels) or a coastal series (Dodgers vs Yankees). The later would be really exciting as there is so much bad blood between the two. You also have the Torre Revenge on Steinbrenner factor and the battle of the 'roids (A-Rod & Manny).

So what are your thoughts/predictions etc?

Well, my response to this is a bit late 'cause it's all done and done and the dodgers weren't around unfortunately.

But I figured I'd post anyway because I am rather partial to the Dodgers since a great-uncle of mine pitched for them back when they were in Brooklyn

I'm a Dodger fan myself. Since they exceeded my expectations ( winning a series & beating the Cardinals, who had their number all season long,) I consider 2009 a successful year......................................

I used to be a huge NY Mets fan. Since all the steroid crap I have kind of given up on baseball. I find it too hard to take anything that goes on seriously. The sport is completely tarnished in my eyes.

I am a die hard Phillies phan (sorry they knocked out your dodgers) I grew up watching the phillies with my grandfather. I grew up on Harry Kalas catch phrases, ah the good 'ol days.

I am a Yankees fan and talked about the world series in the chat room while it was going on - much to everyone's growing annoyance . I was even at the ticker tape parade on the Friday. Didnt see a thing but a hundred thousand fans but still it was fun.

Maybe next year!

I *LOVE* Baseball! I'm a Rays fan so you can imagine how painful the World Series were for me! lmao

It's funny, I still watched, my love for Baseball outweighed my hate for the Yankees/Phillies! hahaha

Oops, forgot about this great thread since it took so long for the first reply . Hopefully once the next season starts, we'll have more folks on here.

Better late than never.

Goat, my step-father pitched for them as well when they were in Brooklyn. He was asked to come back up to help Clemens many years later when on the Red Sox.

Have you heard about the Sandy Koufax coming out of his cave to speak about his years in baseball at the Torre Safe At Home fundraiser? Not going to be able to make it myself, but looking forward to hear what Koufax has to say.

Heh, an interesting coincidence! I doubt they were contemporaries since mine started playing when they were still called the Brooklyn Robins (among other names) :-D

Small world though, eh?
