I played video games in a drunken haze I was seventeen years young. hurt my knuckles punching the machines the taste of scotch rich on my tongue. and then cathy showed up and we hung out. trading swigs from the bottle all bitter and clean locking eyes, holding hands, twin high maintenance machines. I could feel the alcohol inside of me hum. picture the look on my stepfather's face, ready for the bad things to come. The above thread is an assembly of Music and Lyrics that are personal to me and I found to be Inspirational in my Recovery. They were chosen for the Emotional Impact of the Music and the relavance of the Lyrics as they relate to the themes of hope, perseverance, overcoming adversity, endurance, joy and despair. Most are Meatphorical in some way and they span quite a few genres and time periods. What Music have you found inspirational? Feel free to post here. Please no drinking/using songs (ex. Thanks for the idea ~ and the chance to share. These are two of my favorites lately....the Black Keys video is only for the music but the lyrics are special to me because of some things I had to work through for a good friend that left...and the LZ one is Plant and Page only but I really like that version of the song - beautiful IMO. The Rain Song lyrics have meaning for me.....seasons of emotion.....upon us all a little rain must fall; I like to think I'm in the "summer of my smiles" right now  Last edited by itisatruth; 08-01-2009 at 02:15 PM.
