Off topic: Scholars?

Looking for anyone who's read the work of Elaine Pagel on early Christianity and is willing to form an email or closed Facebook (Google?) discussion group. I'm particularly interested in anyone who's studied the Oxford Group (admittedly, I have not--it's on my list after I plow through a few more of Pagel's books) and how their teachings might relate to Pagel's study of the gnostic texts.

Peace & Love,
Sugah

WOW! Someone in AA who wants to take a look at the real source of where the AA principles came from (It ain't just Christianity). I'm impressed. Though I must admit, I am a neophyte when it comes to Facebook. That stuff is too esoteric for me. LOL! I have read the following:

The Gnostic Gospels by Elaine Pagels

The Nag Hammadi Scriptures: The Revised and Updated Translation of
Sacred Gnostic Texts by James M. Robinson and Marvin Meyer

Not God: A History of Alcoholics Anonymous by Ernest Kurtz

New Wine: The Spiritual Roots Of The Twelve Step Miracle by Mel B.

Practice These Principles And What Is The Oxford Group by Anonymous

Awesome! A google group is probably the way to go, and I don't think you have to have a gmail address to do it. If you all want to pm me an email address, I'll set one up.

Peace & Love,
Sugah

I am reading Not-God right now. I read some of the books in the Gnostic Gospels about 20 years ago, and I've read about Buchman at the Orange Papers.

What's the aim of the group ?

So have I and IMO the Orange Papers is not unbiased journalism. Not that it lies mind you, just that it leaves out anything positive about AA history.

I'm looking for discussion partners -- people who've read what I'm reading or those who've read complementary/supplementary texts. I labeled the thread "Off topic" primarily because I'm not looking to discuss only AA. I'll invite anyone interested to the group and keep it as free as possible, though I will ask that it not become a lion's den <wink>.

Peace & Love,
Sugah

I'd like to be involved, mostly to read, but if there's a specific book to be suggested (I've read Not-God by Ernest Kurtz, which is mostly about AA), I'd be interested in reading it. Let me know and I'll find you.

I leave the orange papers alone, they are so anti AA it isn't funny.

Boleo, thanks for your reading list.

Regards,
