| Allen Carr
English self-help author Allen Carr was probably most known for his quit smoking methods but also addressed other addiction issues such as drinking, as well as stress management and weight loss. More info at Allen Carr - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia One of his recovery from alcoholism books is available for download in electronic format at WOWIO: Allen Carr's No More Hangovers by Allen Carr. Essentially, it is reprogramming your thoughts and associations about alcohol - it is actually a very easy to read, common sense approach. I know people who claim to have become sober through it. |

| orbital boy | I've read some of his books, and found his ideas very helpful. He makes a lot of good points regarding alcoholism, such as: . No level of alcohol consumption is "safe"; *everyone* is at risk for addiction. . As a society, we are brainwashed into believing that drinking is acceptable and enjoyable when, in fact, alcohol is a vile, poisonous substance. . Sobriety is something to be enjoyed! Basically, he asks the readers to challenge their assumptions related to alcohol, and to separate society created-myths from personal facts and experience. I found this very enlightening. He acknowledges that there is nothing groundbreaking about his ideas but, as they are all so ridiculously obvious, most of us fail to see them. He's all about thinking outside the box and counter-brainwashing our views. |

I read his stop smoking book 2 years ago was really good, did not help me though...but a friend of mine who had been smoking for 25 years, 2 packs a day, is still not smoking 4 years after reading the book. I believe the also have clinics to help too...don't know much about the alcohol one though.

A friend of mine read Allen Carrs quit smoking book and hasn't touched a cigarette since. I am planning to buy that book for my son. Thanks for this post. It reminded me to go and pick up that book.

I stopped smoking with reading his book. He makes a lot of sense. Dispels a lot of myths and makes you see withdrawals symptoms for what they are. Feelings and pangs....nothing more. We have been brainwashed into thinking they are something horrendous and unbearable outwith our control which is untrue. I didn't know he had a book on alcoholism, I must check it out....thanks Oz. |
