Has anyone else read this not so new book? I would be interested to know what others thought of it? Franklly, I found it mesmerizing especially in the light of it being a love story.

| | Someone recommended "Drawing Blood" by the same author years ago. Haven't read either, but I'll definitely check them out. Thanks for the rec!

I've read everything I could get my hands on by her, from Lost Souls to the Liquor trilogy. I just got another, Antidiluvian Tales, from Amazon. My favourite of hers is and always will be Drawing Blood. When I got it, it was a revelation, like she had taken all the things I'd found fascinating and solidified them in novel form. I was not a freak after all, I realized, and if I was, I was in good company. Exquisite Corpse was a grittier turn for her, much less...well, pretty than her other ones. I loathed the main characters - most of the characters, actually - but enjoyed its boldness and uniqueness. She succeeded in creating the atmosphere she was going for: cold, cynical, but even monsters fall in love. I will only ever read it once, but I'm glad I read it. |
