Any Twilight Fans

Any of you guys read the Twilight series yet?

I read the first one a while back and I just started "New Moon" the second one in the series today.. I'm already half way through it..

They were written for young adults but I think they are more popular among adults.

Anyhow, they are a fun read.

YES!!!!! I've read the entire series and I absolutely love them =) I read the last book, Breaking Dawn, which is over 700pages in a day and a half! lol How are you liking New Moon?

I just bought the movie on Saturday and have already watched it twice!

You'll love the books VC! They are a million times better than the movie. Then again, so are most books made into movies! lol

My Favorite is Eclipse, the third book.

How cool you've been to Forks! I bet they have a lot of people going through there now because of the books! lol

I'm betting Forks is getting a lot of traffic these days... it's such a small hole in the wall town so they could certainly use the tourism business.. It's a very friendly and charming town and now that I'm in to these books I would love to go back for a visit.

I was there about 5 years ago. My sister lived about an hour and a half away and we stayed in Forks when we went to the Rain Forest.. I also remember driving though La Push. We went to the beach there.. Very beautiful.

I'm going to have to hand in my Man Card My fiance and my 11 year old daughter both read the series, then they turned me on to them. I'm currently reading the last one, Breaking Dawn, but haven't had much spare time for reading lately so I'm barely half-way through.

Yeah they're a little mushy and I don't care much for the romantic aspect, but there's enough action to keep me interested. I'm sure I might not be real popular for voicing this opinion, but I think Jacob is way more of a man than Edward! Lol. We saw the movie at the theater and bought the DVD last weekend, daughter has already watched it a few times.

Remember the dance studio from Twilight? I drive by that location every day on my way to an AA meeting. It's a residential area so there's a home on the corner, not a studio. For some reason I thought Forks and La Push were fictitious places, it's pretty cool that they're actual places in WA.

My Son just told me a few kids in his class are reading Twilight so now he wants to read it! lol I must admit I don't remember a lot of it, but I know there's no s-e-x. I'll probably let him read it but need to re-check it just to make sure.

Astro I think it's cool you read them! And you won't get any flack from me about the Jacob/Edward thing. I totally fell for Jacob when I read New Moon! One thing that bothers me about Edward is how possessive he can be at times. I had people tell me so many times Jacob was childish but HELLO he is 16!!! Edward is how old and he acts like that? lol I say why choose? Give me both! And I'm with your Daughter, I bought the BluRay on Saturday and have already watched it twice as well!

Katie's shared the books with quite a few of her classmates, so far I haven't had any negative comments from other parents regarding the content. I think they're pretty safe for the younger crowd to read. My ex is an English teacher, she would've been all over my case if she disapproved of our kids reading them!

I've seen one of her classmates with a t-shirt that says "Team Jacob". Lol. Go Jake!

I was thinking it would be okay as well, actually surprised he wants to read them! But glad because it's so hard to get him to pick up anything lately =)

I did one of those silly quizzes, who is your Twilight guy, and I got Jake! lmfao I swear I feel like a teenager again with this stuff.

I finished Breaking Dawn last night. Can't get my H. to read anything, but he really liked the movie. Also, I think some people give Jake a bad rap but I like him, especially after finishing BD.

Ok, I have to own up to this, I love the series! A friend turned me on to the first one although I was very skeptical... was creeping oh-so-casually to the young adult section of B&N for each following book... "Oh I'm just browsing for a niece's birthday present, lalala..." Hehe, although the Edwards controlling stuff struck me too. I was like, Good lord, red flags, this dude has major abuser potential. I just had to put the PC voice to sleep and let myself enjoy the story.
The next movie is out in November. Yay!

Funny you should mention this....because, even though I really enjoyed the series, a little voice in me kept thinking....what is this girl thinking wanting to give so much up for her "man"....I don't want to give out any spoilers for those who haven't read it, but talk about choices that can effect the rest of your life (!!) and being too young to make them......IMHO.

I actually got interested in the book after a friend of mine told me that the writer was influenced by/was a fan of Pride and Prejudice....my all-time favorite novel (It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife.) Later she refers much more to Wuthering Heights.

So that's my excuse!! lol

My daughter got me hooked on this series!! I love Edward! I just spent a rainy Sunday watching the DVD. The books are fab. My older sister who I never would have thought would be into Twilight asked ME if I had read them. I guess we do have similar tastes.

I haven't read the books yet, but plan to to see what all of the hullabaloo is about. I live in Forks. Have lived here all of my life. And yes, the book and movie have breathed much needed new life in our little town. We are a logging town and logging is a dying industry. We can spot a twilighter a mile away snapping photos next to the local landmarks. It makes things more interesting. I heard this summer that charter planes will be flying in for Twilight tours. I think it is a hoot, but I really need to get busy reading.

The second one (Breaking Dawn) was actually a favorite of mine....I think maybe people think it's boring because of the fact that it's not all about Edward and Bella ALL the way through.

(trying to avoid spoilers)

My niece who gave me the first book also gave me Breaking Dawn and she said it was boring so it is still sitting on the shelf. Time to dust it off and give it a read, I just watched the movie Twilight and I enjoyed it.

Hey, Breaking Dawn is the last (fourth) book, not the second. Don't read 'em out of order unless you already have. I think some parts of each book read a little slow, but there are quite a few chapters that kept me on the edge of my seat.
