Being Baited

I've been around the internet for a wile, participated in unmoderated bulletin boards (forums) and experienced more than my fair share of being flame baited by trolls. Its kind of an surprise when that did happen to me today here at SR.
One thing that I have worked on as an addict in recovery is to not take the bait. Sure there was a time in recovery that I would feed the troll, get sucked in and then the whole thing would develop into a big mess of ego posturing from both sides.
Today I can allow others to use whatever maladaptive communication techniques they like in an attempt to suck me into their twisted world without taking the bait. Its a sigh of growth in recovery on my part.
Fortunately SR is a well moderated site and the offending post was removed. As it is said in the rooms of AA: some are sicker that others. I wish the trollish SR member all the best. I hope they can chill out with the flaming post stuff and stick to an intention of helping others. No need for the personal attacks here at SR, many of us including them, may have enough to deal with without going off on anyone.
