The Raven and the Frog
In Native American culture the Raven was called upon in ritual so that visions could be clarified. Native holy men understood that what the physical eye sees, is not necessarily the truth, and he would call upon the Raven for clarity in these matters. The Raven is also the keeper of secrets.
Due to the fascinating transitions the Frog goes through in its life, it is a symbol of metamorphosis. Furthermore, the Frog’s dual time spent on land and water represents duality of the soul.

Fel. Instead of wondering about your strength, ask yourself if you're ready to surrender or not. Surrender means a lot of things. It's not about defeat, it's a *decision*. A decision to be humble, and willing. Surrendering does not make you a failure or weak, it just makes sense: you can't fight a tidal wave. Go with the flow instead, and wait until you reach dryer lands

Ditto to MAtty's words. Surrender was the "beginning" of freedom...I was so full of fear for so long and kept on drinking even after I knew it was killing me. Two of my favorite sayings for "FEAR" are False Evidence Appearing Real and F*** Everything And Run because that is what I did for as long as I can remember. Either my mind told me things that weren't true about myself and had me convinced they were true or I got scared and ran towards the bottle--because I didn't know what else to do. It sounds like you have a good plan Fel--if you want to go back to AA and do the Steps--please fight that fear head-on and go to a meeting. You will be glad you did.

Going to AA or however you decide to get help is a MAJOR decision. I don't know about you, but MAJOR decisions used to make me thirsty...so I decided I would rather just "go and try it out". That was a while ago, and I am so glad that my mind shut up for once and my legs didn't decide to make a "b line for the door"--if you are done, you are done...and if you are done, there is a helluva lot of people just like you waiting with open arms.
Just keep writing, and keep coming here, you'll make it!!! I have faith that you can do it!Posted 08-30-2008 at 06:01 AM by Iamnotacat
