Just need to vent

I am so sick of this cold weather! If I am not able to get out on my bike soon, I'm going to go crazy!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm okay, but just needed to get that out! It's warm enough right this second to ride, but I have the darn flu and can't ride....besides having to work... Who said that dealing with "life on life's terms" would be easy???!!

Thanks for listening to my whining!!

Blessings to you all,
Kym

So, I probably shouldn't tell you that I rode to a noon meeting today, huh?

However, in my defense, today is the first time in weeks that my body and the weather have managed to feel good enough (at the same time) to allow me to ride. Gotta take 'em where I finds 'em!

Hope you get to feeling better soon!

On my ride to maryland this past weekend, I had seen a total of 5 bikes out. They were on the highway braving the weather. It was just above 32 degrees.
My thoughts at the moment were... full face will keep me warmer but I won't be able to see all I want to see. Will wait for warmer weather.
With that I turned down the heat in the cage, as it was getting to warm inside *LOL*

I just washed my truck 2 hrs ago.. it was 45 degrees and sunny on the way home frm work. Now there's these big fat fluffy wet snowflakes coming down out there

I never heard anyone say dealing with life on like's terms was gonna be easy, they just said I'd have to do it.

I had that miserable flu .. one minute you think your gonna die and the next you wish ya would just to get it over with. hope you feel better soon.

As with so many things in recovery.... It's all in your head man. I live outside Augusta Maine and I was out on my bike this weekend. We managed to pull in for a few days for a port call and I decided to go home.
It was a little chilly, but there is no snow. I don't think it would have mattered if there were!
I got home from the music store and it just hit me…. Lets roll! I wheeled the bike out and started it up, went in the house and put on some warm cloths and my favorite wool HD cap and off I went. About 75 miles later when I got home, my lips were blue and I think I had frost nip on my earlobes! But I don’t care… It was an awesome ride! Cold, yes but at least I’m able and I have to thank God for that. I have a couple of bro’s that are over in the middle east…. Guess how much riding they do?.. NONE.
I feel you though. I’ve been wanting to get on that sled for a long time, I was just waiting for the driveway to clear. By the time I return from this deployment it will be almost peak riding season. But I got to sneak one in on old mother nature and that’s enough to tide me over.

Wow, how funny.
I just tuned in here thinking I would vent a little myself and this post jumps out at me.
I'm pretty PO at someone right now because I'm probably going back to the same financial position I was in when I first quit drinking.
I made my own bed by doing the same thing over again (Bad business decision) while some how expecting a different result, so I'm actually PO at myself.
I still have my bike and sobriety, so I will be OK.
I really need to get out of myself right now though.

So there you have it, whining, but with a solution.

It is getting warmer. Monday will be 66 degrees here....I think I might ride to work. It's cold at 6am, and I have about an hour drive, but the ride home at 5 could make it worthwhile. I could break out the heated gloves

It's hard for me to come into the "bikers'" forum....I'm a girl, and I don't work on my own bike or even change my own oil (though I understand the mechanics pretty well). I just ride. Been riding since I was 14 (26 years), but I still don't consider myself a "biker."

I’m with Gooch on this one. The more the merrier! Besides, there is nothing hotter than chicks in leather!
Don’t fret about not wrenchin’ on your own sled. There are a lot of dudes out there that do the same thing, but they think they are way to macho to cop to it. So I guess you are one ahead of them on that.
We have a lot of gals that ride at my HOG chapter, most of them have upgraded from being a 2up rider. They just wanted a little more freedom than riding with the old man, so they got their own sleds.

First, a woman's place is wherever she wants, including the saddle of her own ride, and a forum for sober bikers. Belly up to the coffee bar and share some E, S & H.

Second, as Tony noted, there are a lot of guys who can't wrench, and still consider themselves "bikers." Why should you feel less qualified than them?

Third, if you're interested in learning to wrench, it's never too late, right?

Now, about riding: I enjoyed a happy (and all too rare) confluence of good weather and relatively low pain today. Rode the shovel to a morning meeting, and then took the Beemer for a back-road cruise through the farmlands and rolling hills east of town. Crisp, clear sunlight, soft breezes, and temps just brisk enough to justify wearing leathers. A perfectly good waste of a tank o' gasoline, and a sorely-needed recharge of my spiritual batteries!

God willin', I'll feel this good tomorrow, too. I'm sure I can waste another tank or two, given the opportunity!

Bill,
I never had much of a hankerin’ to go to Texas until I read your last. Man, if I ever get down that way I’ll be sure to look you up. I love ridin’ to meetings, because after I get my “fix” at the meeting there is noting in the world as good for the soul as a nice long ride. It just plugs my head into the right places. Good stuff!! Nothing like quieting the mind so I can hear the truth…. Oh man that good stuff!!

First of all, thanks for the shares! I am feeling a bit better. Some antibiotics and sleep and it seems to be helping.

Ok Digginit, I'm a girl too. I don't mind one bit posting on this site with these guys. They all seem pretty cool to me and they treat me equally, ya know? Yeah, I can wrench my own bike, but that's because it was just something that really interested me, so I learned. Besides, my dad was the teacher and what a better way to spend time with him than wrenching on some bikes? For me anyway. So, know that you are not the only girl who posts on here okay!?!?! It's a really good place to vent, share and just enjoy being "around" others like you. (Assuming you are a motorcyclists and a person with an addiction)

By the way, I'm not a "biker" either. I ride a motorcycle...but I don't care to be called a biker. It's just a label!

Keep on keepin' on!

Kym

PS: The guy I'm in love with says I look sexy in my leather!!! Woo hoo baby!

C'mon down, Tony! The coffee-pot's on, and we have plenty of good riding roads around here!

Hitting meetings in town is always cool, but I especially enjoy riding to out-of-town meetings, when I can. That way, I put on some decent miles, and also get to hear new voices sharing E, S & H. A win/win bargain!

BTW, 72 today, and 77 tomorrow. This weekend, it might actually cool off to the mid-60s.

It's all part of my scheme to retake the Great State of Texas from the wankers and yuppies. If I can entice enough bikers to move here, we can run the carpetbaggers out, secede from the union, and restore Texas to its rightful place as a world super-power!

C'mon! You know you want it!

Kym,
I hear you on the whole lable thing.... God knows I denied being an "alcoholic" for a long time! Hey, I didn't want to be labled. Today.... If the shoe fits, I wear it. So, not only am I a biker, I'm also an alcoholic! And these shoes feel just fine to me! Thank you God! I'm sure some people would use a few more lables, I would rather not mention here!
