Thanks for the kudo's!

I must be darn near coming up on being straight as long as I spent gettting wasted.

Does this mean I'm "normal" ?

I don't think we'll ever be "normies" LOL!!!!!!!!!! Seriously, I think we are blessed in that we have tools to help us be more tolerant, patient and loving toward our fellows... able to handle life on life's terms...etc. Again, congrats on another year of doing it the right way.....ODAT!!!!!!!!!!

Gooch, if that equation worked, I'd be coming up on "normal times three," and God knows that ain't happenin'!

No, for folks like us, it doesn't matter how we add, multiply, or subtract. The answer still comes out "In Recovery"!!!

Thank God, eh? Can you imagine a whole world full of folks like us?

Gooch: Happy 15th my friend. A sober milestone indeed. Isn't it a miracle that the HP gave us this second chance at it? I'll bet you'll agree that the last 15 years of sober ridin' are far better that the drinking and using ones. Looks good on ya!

Gooch:
Cool beans.... Congrats man. Gives me hope. Hope that someday I may be sober in the mind. It's the steps man, took me a long time to figure that out. But all the old timers I know that are truly happy, joyous and free; got that way by working the 12 steps! Hell, it took me over 19 years to figure that out. Guess it takes what it takes. But now that I get it... I got it! I'm just glad that there are people out there like you to help to guide me in my recovery. People like my sponsor that shoot me strait and tell me what I need to hear and not what I want to hear. That keeps me honest with myself. That too is something new to me as I suffered from self-justification to the 10th power!
My sponsor told me that some people don't get this program, but if they hang around long enough this program will get them! Good thing. Because 19 years ago, that's about all I was doing was hanging around. But the seed was planted. Guess I didn't want what you people had and I wasn't willing to go to any length. This Sunday will be 4 months for me and that makes me grateful. Grateful for knowing people like you, that walk the walk and have shown me the way to the light.
Thank God for AA. Saved my f'ing life and that's no joke. I was on a path of self-destruction and couldn't stop. An AA reached out to me and then introduced me to the steps and so my journey to happy destiny began. So, I will add a thank you to you, and that's enough out of me.

Balanced

Normal is a thing of the mind *LOL*
You use, it is normal that things are going to get screwed up
You don't use and it is normal that things will start to fall into line.

lol I expected just such a reaction..

"I have always heard the expression Normal people" and cringed.

For some reason I can just picture 2 dimensional cardboard cutouts of a family of 3.8 with cheesy grins staring from the porch of the modest boxy little house with the white picket fence.

I'm bout as normal as they come < said with just a smidge of sarcasm > lol

*LOL*
I find a bit of humor in that line. It is so much like life.
But
Sooner or later, even a yo-yo will stop swinging and rest at the mid point.
