| Well it wasn't a Harley..
but I sure thought it was the shizzitz! Since Bill was kind enough to post the ol school pics.. I figured I would do the same. 70 Beezer 650 Lightning was my first street bike. This is circa 77' I was about 10 years older than the bike. Last edited by Gooch; 10-23-2004 at 08:57 AM. |

I remember having that much hair back then but my bike was nothing as good as that...125 honda on off, that I used both on and off by choice. *LOL* I have no pictures at all of my bike. My son's seeing picture of me with the hair though ... trying to remember the word they use? A common word for them that would mean a hippie to us. They just don't seem to understand that was the norm for the day. Hippies hugged trees and had tie dye we just had stylish hair lengths *LOL*

My first custom job didn't work out so well, Had lots of stuff always falling off the Beezer as I didn't have a welder or any fabricating skills, didn't know what a tap was for so it was drilled through hole bolted, and clamped up with some duct tape bushings here and there. Eventually I wanted something to ride and bought a 750 cc Zuke water Buffalo. ( 2 strokes 3 cylinders, liquid cooled and so fast I put a bigger sprocket on the back to haul down the top end some,, which made it all the easier to launch the front end) In the meantime the beezer sat and some lo life ( probably one of my dope smokin "buds" ) ripped it off out of my garage when I was trashed one night. Heres the before of a 69' Bonnie I bought/traded for after my wife left. It was supposed to keep me out of trouble and away from the bars. ( another one of my great ideas that didn't pan out so well Got my 1st felony on the trip back from finding a front end)) I'd been to work in a machine shop as an assembler so I had developed some rudimentary measuring and fabbing skills. Plus I had better connections and was a little more willing to ask for help. Had to lose the front end as it was slugged and the raked trees made it feel like you were the ladder driver on a fire truck going around a corner. |

1st stage was swap the front end and bob the rear fender a little, then drag bars and a teaspoon seat. I found some shorty's for it and made a license plate bracket ( wrong side ... the cops hated it lol ) |

Cool pics, Gooch! I love the "old school" stuff. Nothin' wrong with nostalgia, so long as I don't live there, right?
