I'd do a search for used motorcycles online and see whos advertising..whats available.. there are some that will let you advertise for free, soe that want $$ up front, and probably some that will let you advertise it for a commisson on the sale. |

May want to look at what dealers can do for you. Cash up front buy out or Consignment sale. They sell it, give you what you are looking for and keep any above that price. They deal with the headaches of a sale, you get the $$. Down side...may not sell as fast as other ways. Selling it yourself may get you closer to the price you need get. Local newspaper add. Autohunter add. Local bike shop wall.

Make sure you're pricing the bike right for your area. What it retailed for doesn't matter. What NADA says it's worth doesn't matter. What you owe on it doesn't matter. All that matters is what someone in your area will pay for it. And, of course, lower price means quicker sale. Everybody loves a bargain.

James (or "Famous James") was a British bicycle manufacturer (founded in 1880, by Harry James) which began producing motorcycles in 1902. James motorcycles of various sizes were in production until 1966. The James Comet was a post-war 98cc Villiers-engined model, first manufactured in 1948, and continuing to model year 1964. I have an unrestored '48 James Comet that was found in a shed in Copperas Cove, Texas, with a 1950 New Mexico license plate still attached! Apparently, it had been parked for a long time before I got it. Sadly, it's been parked for over twenty years since I acquired it. Of course, it took me ten years just to find out what model and year the damned thing is! I still fantasize about restoring it, or at least getting it running, but I haven't even looked closely at it in several years, so don't hold your breath to see it running any time soon! ![]() That's me on the James the day I brought it home.

Nice.... Don't know that I would want to ride it but it sure would be nice all shined up at a show. Had a old balloon tired pedal bike as a kid. Had that thing up to 30 MPH once. Stick a engine on it and it would be about the same. Yup 30 MPH would be about top speed I would want to go on it *LOL*

Consignment is a last resort. They take too much of your money. The Motorcycle Trader is the best for advertising. They should publish it where you live, look in a convenience store where they sell newspapers. You can run the ad on a flat rate, and one option is to pay to have it listed until it sells, and it will have a photo of the bike. | |

Man Bill ... thats a cool pic! Kewl old scoot too. I tripped over a Matchless frame by the back door of a shop about 19 years ago.. wanted the thing bad but the guys around there all talked me out of it saying I would never find parts for it. the mill, tranny, and frame were pretty much all there.. I still regret not giving the guy $25 to haul it away. |

diva, If you search the web for clubs, most have message boards like this. Most of those message boards also have "Classifieds" or "For Sale" area's as well. Posting something in those forums is usually free, and that's your target audience too. (Buyers) Its free, easy, quick, and a bunch of people will see it. Just a thought, to help get you going. Doug. |
