He's been sober for 39 Days!!

Hello to all~~ I am new to this board as I have talked with some people in the Al-Anon group for the past few weeks. I just wanted to tell the world how proud of my alcoholic husband that I am. He has been sober for 39 days now and already there is such a big change in his whole outlook on life. Being an active alcoholic for over 20 years...he has come a really long way.

With both of us enjoying riding, it's amazing when you look and see how many poker runs, toy runs, and just plain old rides in general will lead to the neighborhood bar. Together, we have sought out a local group of sober riders. Actually, there are a few local groups in our area....just have to look for them and you would be amazed at how many there are. Right now, the truck is how we will meet up with them, however; come Spring time you can bet we will both be on our own Harley's and enjoy some riding with them. I can't wait for the day to come when my husband and I can actually ride for 100 miles without stopping at 5 bars in the process. 100 miles....one stop for a cig break....man that sounds good.

Happy and safe, sober riding to all.......

That sounds awesome

I went with friends to a New Years Eve party put on by a local sober riding club. It's always a blast to celebrate in sobriety.I know you and your husband will enjoy riding without the bar stops.Safe travels to you...and keep posting.

hugs

I will keep that mind. I am looking forward to meeting some of the SBU members. Hey guys...got a question for ya......this sober partying thing...please tell me it's just as much fun. Then again, I like to people watch so I can only imagine that it will be fun sitting back watching the others 'change' in personalities.

Sober partying is 'WAY more fun than drunk partying!
First: I don't puke up a paycheck's worth of booze at the end of the night.
Second: I get to go home when I want to, and under my own power - no bouncers throwing me out, no cops or chrome bracelets, no friends swearing they'll never let me back in their house again...
Third: I wake up in the morning without the hangover or cow-patty taste in my mouth, without cigarette burns on my clothes or skin, without that sudden startled "Ohmigod! WhereamIandhowdidIgethere?" panic attack...
Fourth: I wake up with the person I intended to wake up with, instead of with whoever or whatever was left ten minutes after closing-time.
Fifth: I have fun, and remember having fun!

One of my best friends in sobriety is living near Raleigh. She and her husband are both sober riders, and she was very active in SBU. If you're sober and riding in NC, I imagine you'll prob'ly run into her soon!

Keep comin' back, and bring the ol' man!

Hey guys. Hope everyone had a good weekend. Mud....I do understand where you are coming from. I guess being the non-addict in my marriage, there are things that I will need to learn to change as well. I guess that the Spring Rally in Myrtle Beach is going to be a whole different ballgame this year. Then again....maybe I won't come home with a sprained ankle this time from falling off the bike. Does anyone know if SBU or RIR have groups that go to the rallies in Myrtle?
