Unhappy broken in 3 or 4 places

My collarbone is all busted up.Bike is not too badly injured.Minor road rash for me.Busted turn signals and mirror for my bike.Probably need a new helmet.I hit kinda hard.

This kid about 12 or 14 was riding his bicycle on a busy street.one minute he was alongside me,and suddenly...BAM...he nails me.I asked him why he did it.He said he was trying to cross.I'd just seen him and his buddy turn from a side street...don't know why they didn't cross at the corner.

I know they saw me.Even made eye contact. He looked over his shoulder and then just plowed right into my front tire.I never even had a chance to try to avoid it.It's nuts but I half think he wanted to hit me.

His family came and waited while the cops sorted things out.Luckily a witness saw what he did and he was found at fault. The family never so much as looked at me or spoke to me.When it was over, they took off and left the kid there.Same deal...not a freakin' word from any of them.

I am trying real hard not to be angry. My plans for the day,a nice ride, going to a pow wow, doing some Christmas shopping, all went out the window.I'll be off work for weeks and weeks...maybe even lose my second job since I am pretty new there.I am real grateful the kid wasn't hurt and that I am sober.

Some guy asked if I had any drugs I wanted to get rid of before the cops got there.I just said no and walked away.I just wanted my bike up and out of the road.

I am in a world of hurt.I don't do heavy pain killers.Sleep tonight is not gonna be fun.But I am still grateful. It could've been so much worse in so many ways.God keeps me in the palm of His hand. Thanks for listening.

Thanks God you are okay. And that the kid is okay today. I wonder sometimes about kids today, they think they are invisible and will just try anything.

You take it easy. Can you take aspirin or get a non-narcotic pain reliever. Sounds like you are going to need something.

Keep us posted if you can but please rest!

Gentle hugs to you.

I'm glad it wasn't worse, but sorry you're in pain and am sending healing energy your way too!

A very similar thing happened to my brother a few days ago. He was in his car, says he didn't see a young guy (on the wrong side of the road) cycling towards him. His friend warned him but too late, the kid ploughed right into the side of the car. The witness swears that the kid did it deliberately too, my bro got really angry about it when the kid turned on him. It wasn't his fault.

What is going on? Is this some kind of cool thing to do now? Weird.

Amy

Phoenix, that is so sad to hear. It must hurt a lot! And, it's a strange incident - and what is that with the kid's family?? They didn't even inquire as to how you were?? Anyways, I guess you're right, it could be worse and you will get better. I hope you don't lost your second job. I know how much you like it. I wish you a speedy recovery, my friend.

Hugs and love,
Anna

Phoenix...don't want to hug you and hurt you!!

I am so sorry, when I broke my shoulder last January, I remember the pain and the collarbone has to be worse. Take it easy, sleep sitting up like someone recommended, it helps alot.

God Bless my friend - love to you (and gentle hugs)
