choices

remember that Rush song?

"when you choose not to decide you still have made a choice"

I've always heard that if I didn't choose to pick up I'd get to stick around to have a whole new world of choices..

I've never been financially secure or a good saver. My family got by and made ends meet. My mom was thrifty but didn't seem to be able to pass that skill alomng to me. I always had a full belly, and a warm place indoors to sleep though. After i got clean I managed to get a decent career and keep at it for 10 years, put some money away toward my retirement and get pretty good credit. ( nearly out that in teh crapper over the last couple years after being out of work and still using my credit like i was gonna hop back on the payroll any day)..

Last week I took the steps ( saw a corellation between the 12 steps in the process) to resolve my credit with some help from a consolidation / negotiation specialist..

Today I settled my lawsuit from the accident I was in may 1st 2001.. they made an offer a few months ago and the attorney pretty much shot it right down. Last week they made a slightly better offer and I told him I would sleep on it and pray over it and get back to him after the weekend.

I did a lot of work over the weeknd tryin to find the answer that was right for me and decided to settle. Called Monday morning to advise them of my decision and ask some questions regarding the details. Today when I got the paperwork i almost fell over the agreement was for 30% more than the offer I accepted last week.

I find that the only thing left over from the disease that really gets by me is the "thrill of the chase" I always seem to have a mission plan started before I catch it and there's a part of me that still likes to imagine the ride. Nope it ain't about the drugs anymore... the money isn't even here yet and I am lookin at new Harleys and imagining the way it's gonan feel when I flop tha stand up and let the clutch lever go for the first time on that brand new 04 RoadGlide...

then the voice of sanity finds it's way back into the conversation in my head and I start realizing I have options.. I can invest some and dosome property improvement and still bide my time and wait for the Boss to help me pick out the bike I should be on.

so what color should I get??? lol

Build, instead!

Invest the cash, let it work for you, and gather up the pieces to build the bike you really want!

About the consolidation thing: you might want to check out Ben Dover's Web-Site. This cat's got some great tips on how to manage your personal finances, and I love his in-your-face style!

Good luck with it, Gooch.

I've thought about that right along.. I've pretty much rebuilt near everything on my 80' shovel, and I have a couple friends that are well versed in building too, so it's not a matter of being able to build one, just that I want something that's comfortable and reliable to do long distance on. For my back that means a swingarm and I want the luggage room so I'm sold on a bagger. Not sure i want to put all the effort into building a pack mule. But I have always wanted a 2nd bike that I built so if the situation works out where I can keep my shovel, I may pick up a frame and play with that.

know of anyplace that you can buy HD touring frames? if I do build a bagger, I think I am sold on the TC 88's at least Phase one and a 6 spd box.

Hey Gooch,

I am glad to hear that is all settled and even better to hear it upped itself...rather "divinely"

About the decision of what & how...no advice there

Take Care

wow man, that's great!
any color you want as long as it's black?
lol
seems like not making a choice has turned out to be my best option . just roll with it and see what happens.
you know, i just went through hell, and i made as few choices as i possibly could. i am grateful to you Gooch, and all of my friends here for praying for me. i can't seem to do that for myself.
it got me through my anger, and kept me from making choices i would regret for the rest of my life. god knows i have already made enough of those.
i could have really ****** up this time. not being completely powerless isn't such a good thing. learning not to use that power is coming to me slowly with the help of you all.
hope my settlement comes through as good as yours, lol.
i go the 26th for a redeterminitaion hearing. been fighting appeals for 2 years now. i don't think they have much BS left to throw at us, but who knows.
i'm thinkin TC myself. had one here for a year and fell in love with it. i rejetted it and the damn thing was quicker than my bro's 1200 custom, but smoooooth ( for a Harley)
course, me bein a sporty freak, that rubber mount softail sporty frame is mighty appealing, lol.
congrats on the ching man and have fun.
