| Member | uh huh ![]() 4 days is good... but this wasn't my first relapse so I'm a bit familiar with my cycle. The first week or so isn't too bad, but the second week the cravings hit hard. I've already planned on camping out on SR when I'm not with supportive friends or in a meeting. I'm also removing my stressors where possible... Been cleaning the house tonight because I know clutter is a stressor for me. Which brings up a point interesting and pertinent to the particular forum. Riding is a serious stress reducer for me. I usually feel very carefree and happy with the wind in my face. AND I cannot remember a single time I've had an alcohol craving while on the bike. I guess I'm on the right track with reducing my stressors as an aid to continued sobriety. Ok, I can't refrain from telling this story since I brought up wind in my face. I prefer to ride without a windshield. But I did buy a windshield for a former bike of mine on a road trip up to Michigan. And here's why... As I was riding along a highway I felt a light mist in my face. "Hm, someone must be washing their windshield" thought I. Then I smelled an acrid odor in the air. "Hm, the local water treatment plant is rather malodorous" thought I. Then I saw the cattle truck just ahead.... I followed the very next HD Dealership billboard I saw to the dealer to buy a windshield ![]() hehe -red beard the Goat |

| A lot of live stock haulers around where I live in Southern Missouri. I usually try and get around them as soon as possible. I ride with a dude that chews. I have learned to take the lead when we head out. Thanks for sharing Goat............one day at a time

I chewed until fairly recently myself... I chewed for about 10 years and when I realized it was raising my blood pressure I just dropped it. I spent one day grumpy and three days hungry and that was it. Every once in a while I miss the taste of the tobacco, especially in situations where I liked to pull off a plug... but it's a fleeting thought and never causes me to even think as far as going to get some chew. Boy do I wish alcohol was that easy ![]() -Goat |

I started drinking and chewing at 14, 27 years later I gave up the Copenhagen addiction two months before I walked into AA. Just my experience, the obsession for alcohol was lifted, but damn there are days when I really crave the dip.
