I'm telling on my fiance....... Cynay took the Basic Rider Course at RideSmart Motorcycle Training Inc. in Phoenix this past weekend. She passed (Of course. Never had any doubts ) so she's certified by the Arizona Dept. Of Transportation and she'll get her license later on this week. Good going baby! Now we just have to come up with the funds to buy her a motorcycle, in the meantime she'll be riding my Boulevard C50T. Now I'd like to see her on a V-Strom 650 and it'd be fun to share bikes, she's thinking she wants a Ninja but has kicked around the idea of another cruiser. Hmm, not sure what to do. Any suggestions from our friends on SR?

Haven't heard from Mykl other than the day he rolled into town. He lives on the west side of Phoenix, I'm on the east side. I expect we'll cross paths at a meeting before too long.

Hey Astro! I love my Honda PC. It's a sport touring bike!! It rides great and handles well in the turns too! My friend rides a Honda 750 and it's really nice. I just don't like having my feet stretched out like that. It doesn't feel like I have enough control of the bike. It's just a personal preference. I am glad to see another woman "in the wind"!!!! Hugs, Kym

She did her training on a Rebel and an Exciter, both 250's. I think she'd like something bigger though, we like to take weekend trips and day rides. She's been taking my 800 out for short rides and getting comfortable with it. Kym, you hit the nail on the head. I've seen a pic of your bike before and I think it's what she has in mind. I bought her an '09 buyers guide (that might've been a mistake. Lol) and there was a review on this beauty 2009 DN-01 - Honda Powersports The price tag makes me want to faint though! We're both short in stature so the seat height on the DN-01 (27") would be much more sensible than the V-Strom (32") OK, so it's time to get back to work on scraping up the money for one of these!

Hi Astro, You right about that seat height on the V-Strom 650. Most ladies would not like the height, especially if they are new to riding. Cruisers are fairly easy for most new riders and come in lighter weights and low seat heights. A blessing when you are starting out. My wife did just fine with a 800 Intruder and that bike kicked butt, it was no dog. I am glad she took the safety course, that is an excellent way to start. Your Boulevard is a fairly heavy big bike isn't it? The Intruder was only about 440 lbs dry weight and very easy to handle. Have Fun!! |

Yes the C50T is around 750lbs, but it handles really nicely. I'll sheepishly admit that I've dumped it a couple times but I can get it back up pretty easily. While I think a small cruiser is a great bike to start with, we both feel that it'd be best to buy a bike that she won't outgrow too quickly. I also believe that larger bikes ride much easier, you don't get knocked around by the wind as much and they balance better.

This is dangerous for me. I am starting to drool and I just had my arms put back together, plates and screws everywhere! I want a Yam FZ1 so bad right now I can almost taste the exhaust. I am thinking serious acceleration here!!!! I'll breath deep......

I might go take a look at the DN-01 later today, there's a Honda showroom nearby. But I have the same issue and so does she. Fast bike + temptation to get a little crazy = a bad situation. My Boulevard pretty much tops out at 75, any more than that and I'm likely to end up needing some plates and screws too!

Hey everyone.... Thank you for your good wishes... SOOOoooooo Astro went and took a look at the DN-01 and he is in love.... I hope that we go take a look at it again this weekend... they just got the bike in and they will let you take it out for a test drive (if you sign your life over) Astro did not take it out but Im thinking that if we get that bike I might have to get much more use to the Boulevard, I think I saw stars in Astro's eyes when he talked about the DN-01. This will be alot of fun for the both of us I think. Good to meet you all and look forward to the ride.

Mykl, I'm assuming that means you found work (?) Hope all is going well for you. I'm kicking around the idea of branching outward from the Club and trying other meetings, something to jump-start my recovery a bit. Let me know if you're going to regular meetings anywhere and maybe I'll take a little journey out your way sometime soon.

Jazz, You must be a good driver to surf & drive.... I know people do it. The other day I answered my cell phone while I was doing about 70 on my scoot. Made for an interesting conversation that ended with my wife telling me "Quit answering your phone when you are on your bike!" Anyway, I know what it's like to multi-task but I'm not sure it's the safest way to go....

Yeah, I found work, just not exactly what I wanted. I'm out for weeks at a time. My sponsor and I are going to 8726 W. Olive tonight at 5:30 pm AA, (on the bikes of coarse). It'll be maybe 3 weeks before I get home again.

| I've got custody of my kids Mon. & Wed. and we're in the middle of Little League and softball season so I'm at games most nights, but one way or the other I'll catch up with ya some night at a meeting.
