Question TOPIC: Nothing Is So Bad, That A Drink/Drug Won't Make Worse. Right?

Hi, Im Sharon and Im an Alcoholic.

By the grace of my HP and people
like you here in SR I havent found
it necessary to pick up a drink of
alcohol since 8-11-90.

For that and you I am truely grateful.

Nothing is so bad, that a drink won't
make worse. Right?

Ok, so in keeping things simple.......

If we do not take the first drink, we never
get drunk. Therefore, instead of planning never
to get drunk, or trying to limit the number of
drinks or the amount of alcohol, we have learned
to concentrate on avoiding only one drink...or
rather the first one.

In effect, instead of worrying about limiting
the number of drinks at the end of a drinking
episode, we avoid the one drink that starts it.

Sounds simple doesn't it?

I suppose if i had come home at a normal time
from the club that Aug. 1990th night and
avoided the confrontation with my then spouse,
and not had taken a hand full of pills and
threatened to end my miserable life....

to only downing it with that last gulp of wine,
then possibly i wouldnt have faced the
"firing squad" and a family intervention,
a police ride to the court house and a drop
off at the rehab center.....

take a deep breath now....

then I would have missed the opportunity
to get sober and to be set on the path of
recovery and end up happy joyous and free
some 18 yrs down the road.

The JOURNEY of a lifetime.

Thanks for letting me share.

Take out the first drink, and we are stuck with nothing but the mental obsession, and in time God will remove the obsession.

I know, God did for me what I could not do for myself.
