TOPIC: A Recovery Thought To Ponder. Makes One Say Hmmmm..... Hi Im Sharon and Im an Alcoholic. By the grace of my HP and people like you here in SR I havent found it necessary to pick up a drink of alcohol since 8-11-90. For that and you I am truely grateful. Thought to Ponder . . . If I want to be free as a butterfly, I've got to get over having once been a worm. Hmmmmmm.....a worm. What is a worm? What do they do? How do they live and survive? To work (one's way or oneself) subtly or gradually; insinuate: She wormed her way into his confidence. To elicit by artful or devious means. Usually used with out of: wormed a confession out of the suspect. As an insult meaning "abject, miserable person" Of course there r many other meanings for this worm and for people including me when i was active in my drinking career. However, too....I could still be a "worm", alive and active in my sober life...that's if i choose to. Just like our disease being cunning, baffling and powerful, then so can being a "worm". Decieving, munipulating...... Sure, i was a worm many times, esp. when i wanted to get out of a lie or situation i didnt want to be caught in. "I didnt do that" ...No way i could have been there"..."I didnt take anything" And then to stand there accused and lie so perfectly to make it seem like it was the other persons fault. Been there done that. Boy, i could have recieved the Actors award for that outstanding performance.....lol What a "WORM"! Today Im a little bit better.....not perfect, as i have a conscience. My mind does bother me a little more as i become honest in all my affairs. Anyway....butterflies are so much prettier and fluid in their motions. Freer than a weasel of a worm. Are you a Worm or Butterfly today? __________________ "A FRIEND IN NEED IS A FRIEND INDEED"

| Neither. I'm a pickle and can never be a cucumber again ![]() Sorry Sharon, I'm just being a smart-@ss. To answer this honestly, I'd say I'm the caterpillar in the cocoon. I'm still undergoing my transformation in recovery, and someday hope to be the beautiful butterfly. OK yeah I feel a little bit weird about putting it that way
