| Don't stomp too hard, you'll only hurt your feet. Sounding in with the others Annie, welcome pegs are folded down.

AAWWWW...you guys are too cool. Someday I'll have one again. I guess that means I'll have to learn to operate one too, LOL. Jazzed, I had to laugh at not stomping too hard. It's cold (and I do mean cold) here in Michigan, and for lack of any others, I had to wear my biker boots the other day. I had forgotten how good my boots are for riding, but really really bad for standing for hours on end. Ouch. But I am blessed to even have boots, right? :ghug

Here's my GSXR and my wife and her EX This is a shot of some of the fellas I carve canyons with. I've got my work cut out for me keeping up to all these 1000s on my 750; but I manage well enough with 30 years of riding under my belt) This is out ST1300 on a recent trip to Arizona to see a concert (Little River Band) in Phoenix. (I guess I can't post pics yet...)

Sorry to hear that!I'd stick with the rice-burners. Personally, I appreciate the mechanical reliability of 'em. But, that's just my opinion. And now I'll dodge the wrenches that all the H-D owners here are going to throw at me!

| My First Post
Hello Everyone! This is my first post and I purposely saved it for this thread. I'm happy and thankful that I found this great website which I've spent hours reading since the beginning of this week. My first day without a drink was one week ago today, the 24th. I spent the better part of that day and previous night in a hospital having all the usual tests done for stroke victims. It turns out that I only had a TIA (mini-stroke, no damage) but it was my wake-up call. I found this site after doing a google search on night sweats and alcohol because the first 5 nights after my sudden stopping I sweated profusely during my sleep. I already knew and was told by my wife, doctor, and others for a long time that my everyday drinking, which was steadily (and scarily) escalating in volume, was something that I absolutely had to stop, but hadn't done yet (and, forget about cutting down!). Anyway, last Friday I thought, now here's my chance. Since I had no desire to drink that night after going home (just wanted to sleep), plus there was no way my wife was going to allow it, I looked at it as being day 1. Then I made it through day 2, and 3, and so on... Ok, so why this thread? I used to have a motorcycle 30 years ago, and I loved riding. Then, gave it up for the usual family reasons. But, it was always in my blood, and moreso the last many years as I've gotten older and so have the kids (one 28 and married, the other 25 and still at home So, here's my dream Bonnie. Oh, and thanks for "listening". And, looking forward to being a daily reader and partcipant in this forum. JZ P.S. Apparently, I can't download the image since an error message said that, being a new member, I need at least 15 posts under my belt before this website will allow any links to another website. So, I'll be back soon to post a photo of my dream Bonnie... |

Johnny Z, welcome! I hope you'll take the time to post in our Newcomers forum too, and congrats on your first week. Glad to hear you're OK. Funny story. My first bike, a Honda Rebel 250, ended up at a used bike shop somewhere on the north shore of Boston. I dragged it all the way there from Phoenix when I married victim #1, ended up selling it cuz I knew I was going to kill myself drinking and riding it. 16 years later, I ended up getting my current bike, a Suzuki Boulevard C50T. That bike is a gift of recovery for me. I'd love to own a Triumph, the classic models are great. Looking forward to seeing a pic of your new Bonneville, and hope to hear more from you on SR.

Welcome aboard, Johnny! I had been wanting a motorcycle since I was a kid, but any motorcycle money I might have had as a teenager and young adult went to drinking, drugging, and running away from trouble. Just as well, because I probably would have killed myself drinking and riding. Shortly after my first AA "birthday" I bought my first motorcycle - a 1974 Harley-Davidson Superglide. It was a tribute not only to my sobriety, but the "growing up" I did during that first year - learning to handle money more responsibly, establishing credit, etcetera. The "growing up" process continues, BTW. "Progress, not perfection." ![]() That motorcycle and I recently celebrated thirty years together. No one outside my immediate family, and a few AA old-timers, has known me as long as that bike has! So keep comin' back. It is possible to stay sober, and have fun doin' it! ![]() 4-11-1979 ![]() 4-11-2009
