| AA picnic
The three AA groups in my home town are having their annual picnic today. For the past 28 years or so, this picnic has been taking place. Deep in the Ozark hills on a private Century Farm owned by one of our senior members. We gather together at the river every year, for a time of fellowship, eating, fishing, and swimming. We top off the gathering with a meeting on gratitude. It is not easy to get to the spot. We have to mark it with signs. We turn off the blacktop road and go down a gravel road for about two miles. Then we get on private property and travel for another two miles winding down the hill sides to the river. Just before the river there is an old homestead site. It is hard for me to amagine living there so far from civilization. The picnic site sits on the banks of the Northfork River. A clear spring fed small river with bluffs and huge rocks perfect for jumping off. I will take some pictures and post here when I get back. It sure is great to be sober and be able to enjoy fellowship and friends without falling down or going to jail............God is doing for me what I could not do for myself.

We had a great time, but I forgot my camera........duh There were several cameras there and I had someone take a picture of the big rock in the river that we jump off. They are going to email the pictures. Later tonight I will tryu and post them. We had bunches of kids and teenagers who were kids of AA'ers. We had alanon's, and one guy brought his 96 year old dad. Most shared a little of the topic of gratitude. We opened the meeting to an open meeting from the git go. Food was good, fresh grown garden veggies, and BBQ burgers. AA ain't all coffee, ciggaretts, and drunkalogs. The guy who did the cooking had 4 months, and another person got a six month chip. Three people came to tears and they shared their gratitude.......I call that the music of AA.

Here is a picture of the rock we jump off. It's not real high, just fun. The water is probably 15 foot deep all around it. KickStart..............where you from in Missouri?
