Riders

So, all this stuff is coming back to me, you know, times you ****** up, times you are ashamed of. At least, times I'm ashamed of. Sometimes it hits me so hard I can't hold my head up. How do you get over being such a tool? I swear, I get up every day and try to be a better man. I'm still having times where I mess up, but now it's sober. You know, son of a bitch, everything is real (s.o.b.e.r.) Sweet ride today, cam kicks in at about 80 and just unwinds, I am gonna rename that thing war it's so wicked.

Welcome to the forum Lock254, thanks for sharing.

I claim "spiritual progress rather than spiritual perfection."

I trudge the road of Happy Destiny. That word trudge means to walk with determination....I just take it one day at a time, don't drink or use, go to meetings, talk to my sponsor, and make my self available to help someone else. I still screw up myself, probably always will as long as I am alive. For me, screwing up and continuing to work my program (step 10) keep me from drinking.

That's all any of us can do, Lock, is try to be better than what we were. Some days I'm real successful at it. Other days, not so much. Like Toad said, "progress, not perfection." The key is that we keep trying. Give yourself credit for that.

And welcome to the board. What are you riding, and what kind of cam is that? Sounds sweet!

Good to have you here.

The program is Twelve separate and numbered steps. Doing the best you can to complete these steps will find ya takin a high road to happiness; sometimes without ya realizing it till you feel the corners of your mouth pointin up instead of you lookin down.

Peace

Welcome Bro. Glad you found us. We all came here with our own mess from our pasts, but the good news is that the longer you stay sober & clean, the better past you start building now...Stick around. Got any pics of your ride to show us....Here's a pic of "Annie", my 2002 FLHTC coming off her winter perch on April 19th, when the snow finally melted...LOL

Hey Lock...........how you doing?

I pray all is well with you.

I just love being sober. Seems that each day brings something new. Actually I've never been sober this long before, so each day is new in that aspect alone. Today and tomorrow I am serving as Ride Captain for a Patriot Guard Riders mission. A WWII, Korea, and Vietnam USAF (Ret.) Lt. Col.. My first mission as Ride Captain and the Governor of the state shows up. 9 years ago doing something like this was far from any thought I might have had. I am humbled more and more by the paths that recovery seems to lead me.

How can I ever pay AA back???

Like this..."I get up every day and try to be a better man. I'm still having times where I mess up, but now it's sober.". ...Works for me.

We dont live in the past, nor do we shut the door on it. Kinda keep it findable to see where our drinking can take us and those we love.

Step 10 monitors my days for the most part because I am still human, no matter how much work God has put into me.
