Saturday, March 15, 2008 When can you expect to get your Tax Relief Check? Below is a schedule for the issuance of the Tax Relief Checks this summer. Week Last 2 digits of your SSN Receive your check by week of 1 00 - 09 July 23 2 10 - 19 July 30 3 20 - 29 August 6 4 30 - 39 August 13 5 40 - 49 August 20 6 50 - 59 August 27 7 60 - 69 Sept. 3 8 70 - 79 Sept. 10 9 80 - 89 Sept. 17 10 90 - 99 Sept. 24 For married taxpayers who filed a joint return, the first Social Security Number on the return determines the mailing date. Source: Internal Revenue Service Here's the breakdown, according to MSNBC: If you made less than $75,000 in 2007, you get $600. A couple earning less than $150,000 gets $1,200 back, plus an additional $300 per child. If you made at least $3,000 but paid no taxes, you still get $300. But here's where it gets tricky. The rebate is technically an "advance credit" for your 2008 taxes, leading some to believe the extra money will come out of your refund for next year. "No," said Rudoy. "It's a one-time stimulus to the economy, and it won't affect anything that anybody has for next year." The IRS gave Call 4 Action the same assurance. Plus, it said you can get another $300 next year on top of the rebate check if you have a child in 2008. And unlike years past, it won't make you pay taxes on that rebate money. But many of you who are elderly or low-income, living off Social Security or veterans benefits, could miss out altogether. To get the rebate check, you must file a tax form for 2007, even if you're not required to do so. Otherwise, you're passing up what's essentially free money. |

Lion: We don't get tax relief in Canada, but I wish. I filed my taxes with revenue Canada last week. I had already paid $22,526.78 through payroll deduction throughout the year, but I have to pay an additional $ 2,300.00. The company I work for has been deducting my taxes at 21%, but the government takes 28% of my income. Life goes on.... There are only three absolute guarantees in life; death, taxes and the very best of all, my favourite A.A. story... An A.A. newbie of 6 months goes to his sponsor, whining that his life is not improving since joining A.A. He goes on to whine about how his boss is an a**hole, his wife is a b**ch, his truck doesn't run right and the bank is being unreasonable. After he finishes his rant, his sponsor gives him the following guarantee. The sponsor says: " George, I want you to stop for a moment and take some time to envision how you would like your life to turn out. Where would you like to be living, in what kind of house, what type of job, in short, I want you to picture in your mind the very best future for yourself that you can imagine ". The sponsor gives George some time to ponder, then asks him if he has a vision in his mind of where he'd like to be. George says yes. Then the sponsor replies, " George, I can absolutely, 100%, take it to the bank, sure as death and taxes, guarantee you, that you can have everything that you just envisioned, if you do the following things: Surrender 100% to A.A., join a homegroup and never miss that meeting unless you're dead, read the Big Book, work the steps, get a sponsor, follow his directions, find a Higher Power of your own choosing and pray every morning and every night, asking this Higher Power for sobriety and guidance, and always try to help any A.A. member that is put in your path asking for help ". The sponsor then pauses to let this guarantee sink into George's head for a bit, then goes on to say..." But there is a bit of a catch to this guarantee George , which is that you will be cheating yourself, because right now, you are absolutely incapable of even imagining how good your life will really get ". As you may have guessed, I am the George in this A.A. story and it is an absolutely true story. When I was told this story about 17 1/2 years ago, at 6months sober, I was absolutely incapable of envisioning the life that I am living now. If you would have tried to tell me then, that I would be comfortable in my own skin, be able to look in the mirror and love what I see, have a host of real friends, be happily remarried, knowing what true love is and being able to give and receive it, working at a job that I enjoy, living in my own home and best of all, having a loving God in my life to guide me, a God that has never failed me through many difficult periods in my recovery, I would have not been able to believe you..... I love sharing this story when I'm asked to speak at meetings and I'm happy to share it with all my Brothers and Sisters in this forum. It is the rock solid truth.....

"WOW" just doesn't describe it! But it is the absolute truth. There was no way (@ 6 mos) that a detailed description of where I would be at 10-12 years of steady program could have been told to me or imagined by me. Yanno,...I think I'll go thank Him now, just because...
