| The youngest landed a full time job with benefits
It's amazing the things that happen when I stay out of the way. My youngest, now almost 20, never finished high school, she flunked two classes her senior year. She enrolled in online classes, and only had 1 1/2 credits to complete and could still get her degree. I finally figured out that harping, begging, pleading, getting angry, ad infinitum wasn't going to work on getting her to finish school. So, I decided to let go and let her face the consequences. Classes are still sitting online, unfinished. She's had some health issues come up, no insurance, and by the time it's all said and done, she's probably looking at 2 grand to pay on medical bills. I can't afford to carry insurance on her and am currently appealing my disability via an attorney. I will give her credit for being a darned good employee. She's stuck out any of the jobs she's had, and that's only been 3 (2 of those at one time). They have been pretty low paying though, with the exception of office work for Neville Welding, and she was let go out there because she never finished school. Because she doesn't have a diploma or GED, she can't get hired at the one factory here in town that pays really good with benefits. She's got a car payment, car insurance payment, and a horse she has to buy grain/hay/vaccinations/dewormer/etc for. I watched her sink deeper and deeper in the hole and never said a word. She finally drove to a place that was advertising 20 miles east of us (where my grandkids live) and landed a job! Amazing how a self-induced fire under their butt will get things moving. She was doing delivery for Pizza Hut here, and let me tell you, that 1.00 a delivery she was getting was not keeping the car gassed up. Now she's going to have a steady five day a week job with benefits. She's going to be running a power washer and sand blasting. It'll do the little lady good. I wish I still had the stamina and healthy back to do something like that. I worked for a year in a welding shop where they built earth movers and grain trailers. I ran a drill press, did some tack welding, swept up the shop, and beat the slag off of freshly cut parts. I truly enjoyed it! I think I'll just continue to stay out of God's way and let his plan unfold for my youngest. Thanks for letting me share!
