Can't say as I have. I have no Human idols, the closest I would have to say is Ice Pick, he's me sponsor (27 years clean and sober, back in the party hard 70's), then there's Dave Mustaine.

My idols all turned out to be raving jerks. As a teenager I wanted to grow up to be Jim Morrison and Jack Kerouac. If reports can be believed, both were complete a-holes to the people around them, and both died of alcoholism. God knows how close I came to actually following in their footsteps! Other idols have fallen the same way. Instead of being the heroes I saw them as, they were mere mortals with bad attitudes, massive egos, and mean spirits. I quit reading biographies of people whose work I admired for just that reason. I'd rather focus on the good they did! I do better with mentors, like my original sponsor - a man with failings and clay feet, who none the less taught me to live the program of Alcoholics Anonymous. Then there's the bike-shop owner who taught me most of what I know about motorcycles and business, and how to treat people in business. He's a flawed human being who can be impatient and harsh, but he has core integrity, deep spirituality, and a huge heart. I don't want to be those guys, but I do want to take the best of what they are and incorporate it into my own life.
