I just got off the phone with Kathy at the Iron Horse Motorcycle Lodge. She is holding the top floor of the Lone Star Cabin (see pics below) until she hears from me on Monday. HERE'S THE URGENT PART: between now and Monday, April 7th, I need to know how many people are sending me money, so I can put my credit card down and make the reservation. The cabin will cost us a total of $1320 ($1200 plus NC's 10% hotel tax) for the nights of August 10th through 16th. We arrive the afternoon of Sunday, the 10th, and leave the morning of Sunday, the 17th. NOTE: the website description (in green, below) says the cabin "sleeps 2-6". I was worried about what might happen if we all showed up at once, so I asked Kathy if we could squeeze more in there, and she said we can. The Lodge will provide a twin-sized trundle bed, and we can throw inflatable mattresses or sleeping bags on the floor, if need be. Accommodations: 2 bedrooms, 3 full baths, living room has pullout sofa. (sleeps 2-6) Both bedrooms have twin beds which can be made into a King Bed. Amenities: Full kitchen, Fireplace, Washer & Dryer, BBQ grill, Satellite TV, DVD, Stereo. Covered Bike parking, Fire Pit. Full use of Iron Horse facilities. All linens are supplied. PLEASE RESPOND ASAP

I'm in..............I can see a spiritual meeting taking place at night by the fire pit. We probably won't be the only people in recovery there. We could give the nice cabin beds to the ladies and put the road dogs on the porch. Who let the dogs out? Who? Who?

My bottom lip is draggin' in the dirt. The mill shutdown is Aug. 8th to the 31st and I'm a maintenance supervisor. Have ta be here...Lookin' at the positive though; I wouldn't even be alive, never mind having this job, if'n I hadn't surrendered and joined A.A. when I did. I'll be with you all in spirit though. I coulda pictured myself sleepin' on the porch with Hammer and Best though. I'm sure we would have been banned from sleepin' in the cabin, after last year's performance...LOL

Bummer about the mill, Rarly, but you're right about the blessings. You'll be missed, for sure! Since responses have been a little light, I'm going to call the Iron Horse and double-check their reservation policy. If there is a no-fee way to cancel if we don't have enough contributions by early June (that gives us two months to get our act together) I'll go ahead and make the reservation. If I have to take a hit I can't afford just to make the reservation, I'll let the cabin go, and hope it's still there when we've collected the money.

Sometimes you have to take a leap of faith, and hope to God that's not the Grand Canyon you just leapt into! ![]() I have reserved the top floor of the Lone Star Cabin for August 10th through the 17th, as discussed above. If we cancel, and they are unable to re-rent the cabin for those dates, I'm going to be stuck with a $250 charge. But we're not gonna cancel, are we?

| No we're not!!!!!...................I went to a Patriot Guard Mission today in KC and some of those guys were talking about Deals Gap. They said it was a wonderful ride, and rode it up to four times while they were there. They also said the country around there was very beautiful...........I want to see it.................If we get stuck for $250 that ain't too bad. I have dropped more than that in one night's drinking.............toad

Cancel??? NO WAY!!! Toad's buds are right....Deals Gap is WAY FUN to ride!!! I also love pulling over to the side and watching the sport bikes do their thing. They can really pull those curves and I get chills watching!!! I will pitch in more, as I can, if needed to help make up the difference if we don't have enough going. I'm looking forward to fellowship by the fire, riding the Gap, Cherohala (sp?) Skyway (some very beautiful and flowing curves) with my sober family, FOOD!! and of, course, some good AA talks!!!! So, again...NO WAY....NO CANCELLING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOPE, NADA!! Can't wait!!!!!!!!!

| My life is still a question mark but I have hope. If, (WHEN) I get there, I'll have money, (some). Again, it just depends on what He has planned for me. I will not project into the future but will keep ya'll posted as to the present.

Received e-mail confirmation of our reservation this evening. Those who polish their bikes better start polishing! Summer will be here before we know it!
