OMG, how am I going to do this?

I don't know if I told you all or not, but DH got termed "surplus" after 15 years at the phone company here. They gave him a six month extension, but today he found out he had to accept a job offer about an hour and a half away from us down by Detroit. He had to accept it or he would have been out of a job/insurance. We don't know how we are going to do this. I HAVE to get this, to get better. Everything during the week like lawn mowing, above ground pool maintenance, dog care, etc. will be on me. I am freaking out. I know now I have to get this sobriety thing and maintain it. I am just posting for your prayers, PLEASE!!! I have to cowgirl up and get on with it. OMG, OMG. I praise my HP that he even has a job in this economy, but this is a man who doesn't cry and he did! I don't know what to do or anything. OMG!!! My new avatar has taken on new meaning!!! Please, any words of wisdom? I cannot lose this man, he is my soulmate. I have so much more to write but I just cannot right now...

Sounds like it's time to step up to the plate. A meeting a day, long talks with your Higher Power, and all that work should keep you busy enough to stay Sober.

There is no situation so bad that drinking can't make worse.

"First things first".... You can handle all the maintenance with a sober mind.

"Easy does it"......... Don't try and get everything done in one day.

"Think think think"... Figure out which first things are first.

"First things first".... Not taking that first drink or drug should be first.

"First things first".... Read the book, go to meetings, get a sponsor.

"Easy does it"......... Just do it!!!!!

I have had two jobs that saved my home/house where the commute was 90 min going and 2hrs coming home. Neither killed me, it just was part of the job. "Acceptance is the key to all my problems..." Pg 449 of the Big Book of "AA".

One of the jobs wasn't just a site change, it was where I had to go to get the job. 87miles door to door but it paid 15K more than I had ever earned working for somebody. That was 2 years ago and with todays economy, I wish I had that option today. I haven't been secure since Oct. 07.

Sometimes pg. 449 and step-1 is all I can accomplish in one day. It's better than the alternative, jails, institutions and death.

Here's an example of todays economy,...Dec 06 I was earning $49,970.00 a year. In Oct 07 when I got laid off I had earned $32K+ in about 7 months. Now, I am fighting to get a job paying $20,800.00 a year. These are gross figures. It is what it is.

Thanks everyone. I firmly believe my HP has a hand in this. In my area here there are just NO jobs. Jazzed, I hear you and ((hugs)) to you. Ironically, there are only truck driving jobs and medical jobs here in Saginaw right now. With gas at $3.45 and climbing every day here, we have to figure out if it would be cheaper to get an apartment down there for the week (2 other guys had the same thing happen, thank God) for all of them or to drive it every day. Either way, I have to just trust!

Hey you all...I went to a meeting last night. It was AWESOME...It was the meeting I was afraid to go to because of DH's Ex-BIATCH being from the same community, blah blah blah. Anyhow, I was welcomed with open arms. Turns out that one guy I used to party hard with and another guy (in a past life a long time ago when I was an auxiliary police officer) who I also knew his kids and had given him a break many more times than once when I was a baby cop) was there. My friend Bob has 12 years of sobriety. And unbeknownst to me my DH had talked to many times. I can't tell you how many times I just laid my head on his shoulders and how many times he just grabbed my hand and held on. He said that even though he has that many years he still gets pi##ed and wants to grab a 12 pack but the local lady who also knows me wouldn't let him. She won't let me either, LOL.I cried through almost the entire meeting. I have found my home group, for real. It was just freakin' amazing. It was a real eye-opener for me. Just please continue to pray for me. My DH is starting his job down in south Michigan next Friday. He has a whole lotta hate for me which I don't blame him for. I haven't done jack regarding the housework, laundry, etc. He feels that I don't love him and is ready to walk. He thinks I don't care about him which couldn't be farther from the truth. I just have to get off my a## and prove it to him. He has said some very hurtful things to me, which again I don't blame him. I miss my deceased Mom and Dad so much, and don't really have any close family, while his is everywhere telling him to dump me. I am trying so hard, and I don't want this to end up in a whine session. Again, Just please keep me in your prayers and our marriage as well, John means the world to me. I want you to know that I pray for you all every night, and hope to meet every single one of you someday. ILYATNYCDAI.

Making the meeting will make the best of what ever comes your way.
Sure am glad you found a home.
As for proving to him...What you need do is prove to you and when you do that, he will see it as well.

Prayers for you both.

P.S., I am not trying to ignore you all, and believe me I can feel all the love and prayers coming my way. Someday I will tell you about all the little miracles that have happened. I have, however, been lurking on the "friends and family of alcoholics" board to understand better what DH has been going through. AND, the best news is we put full coverage back on the Classic today. Unfortunately, even though it is really warm, my fat @## broke my zipper last year and I haven't gotten it fixed yet. Number one priority tomorrow.

On another note, how many of you live in helmet law states?

Helmet law here and my helmet has proof on the side that they do work well.
Road burn on plastic sure is better then on my head *LOL*
NH is but an hour north of me and I have been up there naked a couple of times.
Even in the rain. Couldn't figure out of the helmet stopped water in the face or if naked was better so I waited it out under a bridge for a few minutes to dry off just a little *LOL*

First, congrats on finding a home group, Annie. Nothing finer than walking into a meeting and knowing I'm home, with family and friends who love and care about me. It's a bright spot in my week!

As for helmet laws: Texas has a lid law, but riders and passengers over the age of 21 are exempt if they meet one of two conditions: successful completion of an approved Motorcycle Safety Course, or health insurance which covers $10,000 treatment if injuries are sustained in a motorcycle accident.

I, for one, appreciate having a choice in the matter.

Only lid law in Kansas is under 18, if I remember correctly.

I always wear my helmet. Personal preference. I feel naked without it just like I feel naked if I don't have my seat belt on in the car. It's just something I do for me and my family. I agree with BillJ though, it's nice having a choice!! I really don't know Kentucky's helmet law since I wear my anyway. I see many others without, so I bet there isn't one.
