| While waiting around...
...for the doctor to call (which he hasn't, yet, dagnabbit!) my old road dog brought me a present. He is my all-time best riding partner. We've been all over Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Colorado, and Arizona together - a lot of miles on our rat shovels, and a lot of good times. He's an earthling, but he even accompanied me to the sober rally in Western Colorado back in '92. Any excuse for a ride! ![]() He got this '86 FLH Classic on a steal of a deal fourteen months ago, but can't bring himself to ride a bagger, or even strip the thing and ride it that way. He has his heart set on a mid-'90s Bad Boy to ride while he rebuilds his '72 shovel. He wanted to move this, and gave it to me for exactly what he has in it. I had to argue with him to throw in some gas money for hauling it down here from Killeen! It's not a keeper. My intent is to clean it up a bit, dial in any performance problems, and then sell it. I'll probably fall in love with it (that always happens once I get my hands dirty on a bike), but Jackie would skin me alive if I told her I wanted a fourth motorcycle in the garage! Can't say as I'd blame her, either! Anyhoo, a little bright spot to an otherwise crappy weekend. Hope y'all are having fun!

Bill, You're almost old enough to appreciate a scooter like that. You've got the gray, and the years sober, but you might need a few more belly-button birthdays to really get into it. If you get dirty with it and bust a knuckle, you might find the bond between you and the Classic has grown beyond seperation. Put the Beemer in the trailer. I pray you are feeling better my friend. At least they know what the problem is and I am sure that it can be fixed. I am believing God and the doctors will restore your leg to 100% usage. I love you Bill and you know what you can do about that................nothing!!!!

I want it. When you finish playing with it, send me a PM and maybe I will have a job by then and can ride it home. Fly in and ride home ...That sounds good.

| Oh, I appreciate the heck out of it. I'm just not a full-fledged bagger guy. They're beautiful, well-made, luxurious machines, but I prefer a few "rough edges" to my ride. One look at my shovel ought to tell you that! :rof Quote:

I can remember the days when I said that anybody who rode a bagger was a pu**y. Funny how stuff like that comes back full circle. I love my Electraglide. Wouldn't ride anything else these days. I can still push Annie hard in the corners too, just ask Hammer, tryin' to keep up on the twisties at RFL 07.....LOL. Glad you are keepin' your chin up Bill, God's got ya, and so do we....

One look at my shovel ought to tell you that! I said that too! Then I got a FLHX. When I had my wreck it was a real easy decision to get a FLHTCU. A word of warning, detachable hardware for the tourpak was a waste of money. I put the sissybar on once, and rode Becky to the Friday nite meeting. When we got there She said "where do I put my helmet?" and " I dont like getting into the saddlebag for my purse". so the tourpak stays on.

UPDATE: The leg is worse. Not only is the ankle still red, swollen, and tender, but now a huge knot has developed at the top of the lower leg. It's swollen, angry red, with fainter red spreading throughout the upper half of the lower leg. All signs of possible infection. Meanwhile, I've run into a major cluster of "give-a-damn" and "not-my-problem" at every turn. We're now a week after my emergency room visit, and a number of STAT tests on this leg, but I still haven't gotten in to see an ortho. The one woman in his office who handles work comp paperwork told us she'd put in an expedited request last night. Mid-day today I called, to see if there's been any word, only to find out that she's absent. So I call the work comp carrier, and they tell me they have no record of a request, expedited or otherwise. The adjuster tells me there's nothing he can (or will) do. I am so frustrated, and scared, I could commit several major felonies right about now. Not only am I afraid for the leg, but the very real possibility that this is an infection, and that it will spread to my spine while these people play their pre-authorization games! I'm hangin' by a thread here. We're gonna make another run at the ER tonight, and see if they can help, or at least put our minds at ease. All prayers appreciated.

Hang in there Bill. A trip to the ER will determine if it is an infection or not and if it is, they are duty bound to call in a specialist, are they not...? Whatever the outcome, God is ready, willing and able to help you through and so are we, My Brother. Prayers up....
