| life is bittersweet sometimes
Hi folks...I'm having a bit of a "strange" day thus far. I am struggling a bit with some emotions as I have had an extremely emotionally draining month. My wife’s grandfather passed away and she had it a li’l rough for a bit. A week later, my brother-in-law had another heart procedure, the same day, my mom went in to the hospital because her epiglottis was so swollen she was rendered unable to swallow or to breathe. She was also found to have some pneumonia. She is still there and because she has multiple sclerosis, she is in a weakened and perpetually compromised state. She had an overwhelming feeling the other night that it was her time to go and she was scared and said a prayer asking God not to take heer yet because she needs to see/speak to us kids, dad, etc....she reports feeling much stronger following that prayer and improved slightly the next day but is going back downhill. The scary thing is that because of the MS - any stupid thing can become fatal. Anyway - despite all that I have just expressed, I am truly blessed in so many ways and life is good. I am looking forward to the riding season and have plans to ride out to East Dorset, VT to Bill Ws place Memorial Weekend with some other guys from ARM (Association for Recovering Motorcyclists) - That also happens to be my anniversary weekend - 12 years sober (God willing) - So if anyone is able to make the trip...maybe we'll see ya there! Anyhow, thanks for providing a place for me to express my feelings. Love yas all! |

Hey Slash. Good to hear from you. I'll be sendin' up prayers for ya Bro...: I went to Founder's Day in Akron for the first time, last year. Sat at Dr. Bob's kitchen table. I'd love to follow that up with a ride to Stepping Stones and sit in Bill's chair too. I'll have to wait till mid-May to decide, based on if'n the snow is gone....LOL

My wife was looking at me all goggle-eyed this morning when, in spite of some pretty bad physical pain (it's been a rough two months in that regard), I started talking about how grateful I am. So many blessings! Life is bittersweet, but our altered attitudes in sobriety allow us to really savor the sweet, and let the bitter pass. Thanks for sharing with us, Slash. Always good to hear from you. Prayers up for your family, amigo.

I can really relate to that Jesse, When I get to feelin sorry for myself I think about my bro in the wheelchair, that gets me to counting out my blessings real quick.
