Riding Again

Hi,
I am so grateful to be able to ride again now i am feeling better.I am only riding short distances as still having alot of muscles spasming in my legs and weakness but it is getting better.

I had disappeared from the forum as i felt unable to explain what was happening to me.However i missed those i had been in contact with.

I experienced my first panic attack at work over 11yrs ago and they worsened despite medication prescribed and my alcohol intake worsened until a family intervention.I gave up booze over 5yrs ago and my life improved but i had never experienced any peace and last year my work situation caused me to look at the medications i was on.

I had changed my GP and was seeing a shrink to address medication issue. The plan was to wean me off very slowly at my pace and geesh it was just not going to happen.

I flushed all my meds down the toilet DEC28th and self detoxed at home and it was horrific but i had a spiritual experience as well which was incredible.
I was not alone during the process and my HP looked after me and my poor family. My Dr and shrink say i was very lucky and they would not have approved of what i was going to do but also state now that it is the best thing i could have done.

It is hard to explain but every one of my senses is not dulled and everything is different.I have peace.I have let my higher power in.

Glad to see you back, Jen! Give yourself (and your muscles) time to build up endurance for longer rides.

I'm doing that myself, right now - spending more and more time on my bikes (as pain levels, weather, and schedule permit) to strengthen all those riding muscles lost during my long recuperation.

Good for you and in time enough to enjoy your summer.
In the states, many of us have our bike parked.
It is about -5 C below here at the moment with the wind chill.

Bill,
Thankyou and even riding my bike is more enjoyable even if it means having to have a lie down following.
Take Care

best,
summer is over at the end of the month but we are fortunate that our winter is very mild.We have had huge rainfalls and fllooding up North but at least our dams are full and the water restrictions look like being eased.
-5 is hard to imagine.
stay warm

Welcome back Jen............I gave all my meds back years ago, I don't recomend that for everyone, but I could not have medicine without self-medicating and over-medicating. I have trouble taking asprin like I should

Easy Does It........on riding like Bill said..............toad

Jen: Glad to hear from you and that you are OK. Even better to hear that you are ridin' again. Right now, it is -18 degrees F here and we have had (2) blizzards in the last week and a half that have shut down the whole city....

Thanks Toad,
Yes i am definitely not saying others should not be on appropiate meds as prescribed by their Doctors. In the BB it say we may need outside help.
However the medication i was put on originally apparently should only be taken 6weeks maximum.
Everything happens for a reason. My boss reported me as i had confided in her that i was in AA over 4yrs ago and i had spoken up about bad things happening at work. However through that i was sent to a independent shrink and his report was damning in that i was being wrongly treated by my original GP.
My boss has resigned,my license to practice has been suspended and i have resigned from my work and guess what....it is the best thing that could have happened and i am so grateful
