Couple of prayer requests

First, for me. I go in for minor surgery tomorrow at the crack o' doom - the first part of a trial procedure that may offer some relief from chronic pain, and give me back some small part of my life! Wouldn't that be wonderful?

Second is more serious. A man I've known for twenty-nine years, a mentor to me in the motorcycling world, generous to a fault even to those society turns its back on, has his oldest son (who I've known since he was nine) going in for cancer surgery Tuesday morning. This young man is an accomplished businessman, husband, and father, and his prognosis is not good. I would ask prayers for Bud and Susan, their son Raymond, and Raymond's family.

Thank you, and good night. Soon as I'm able, I'll report back on both surgeries.

Thanks, all. Survived surgery, but I feel like a badly-used baseball, and I've got wires running all out my back. Frankenstein's monster had it easy! More later!

Heck, you coulda done that before my accident!

Still aching from the surgery. What they did was knock me out, and insert electrical leads into my spine. Then they woke me up just enough that I could tell them what I was feeling as they energized each lead. The idea is that I can adjust current and amperage to interrupt pain signals, thereby becoming able to carry out more ADLs (activities of daily living) like walking, standing, etcetera.

So far, I'm not impressed. The device may be interrupting pain from my lower extremities - hard to tell just yet - but it's not doing a thing for my back pain. That's actually worse than it's been in a while, and my pain meds aren't touching it.

Of course, I'm barely 24 hours post-op, so we're hoping the worst of it will subside (soon, please!!!) and we can make a realistic evaluation of the neuro-stim itself.

Thanks again for all prayers and kindness. I love you all, and no, there's not a doggone thing you can do about it!

Ain't lookin' good. I called the neuro-stim company's tech this morning, and told him I was having problems, and wasn't getting much, if any, relief. He said that by now I should know whether or not it will help, and if it's not helping, to give it up. I have a call in to the doctor's office now to see about having it removed.

Was really hoping this might help, but no-o-o-o-o-o!

If you're still in prayer mode, please throw in a prayer or two for Jackie. She's getting the rawest deal in all this. It's breaking her heart, and mine.

Thanks.
