Prayers up, Kym. Some of us have already walked that path, and know some of what you're going through. We'll be here for you.

Thanks you all! I'm so tired and don't feel much like typing. Only getting 2-3 hours a night since last wednesday. He's improving but has a long road ahead...as do I. Will update you all soon! Thanks and big hugs to you, Kym

Thanks guys for your prayers and well wishes. My dad is back at home and on oxygen. He's able to take care of himself, which is a blessing b/c his girlfriend is worthless. (hmmmmmm do you sense a resentment there???? May have to work on this one someday....) I'm so happy to see him with a pink tone to his skin as opposed to blueish gray!! He won't be able to ride a motorcycle but can ride a trike. I just hope that someday soon he can afford one as I know how important being in the wind is to him. We all can relate to that, can't we? I must say that I am totally spent. I only slept 2 -3 hours a night for 5 days and had to sleep on chairs pushed together to make a bed. I went without an AA meeting for 8 days. I had to take "crap" from my sister as she gets kind of mean when she's tired. I had to watch my dad behave like a 7 year old while he was heavily medicated. I had to watch him cry while they had him restrained so he wouldn't pull out the ventilator. I had to be without my kiddo for 5 days. I had to deal with "the girlfriend" and try to be nice when I really wanted to clobber her stupid head. I say all of this not so ya'll say...."oh poor Kym", but to simply share that I went through all of that stuff and dealt with all of those feelings and never once did I think "F-it, I need a drink". I just kept telling myself "this too shall pass" and also that "God didn't bring me this far to drop me now". I thought of my AA buds locally and remembered the smiling faces and the hugs I got from my SR buds that I got to meet in Indiana. I prayed a lot and trusted in my Higher Power, God. Just goes to show me, yet again, that if I rely on God and trust in the tools I have received from AA, I can get through anything without a drink. Now.......I have a blasted cold and starting to feel fluish....... this too shall pass!I NEED REST!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks again for the prayers and virtual hugs!!!! Kym

Proud of both of you for your faith and strength, Kym. Prayers really do work, don't they?

Thank you Kym for sharing this journey with us. I'm so glad your Father is doing Ok. You have strengthened my belief also. The more positive energy we share with each other, the greater becomes our collective positive energy to pass on to others. God knew what he was doing when He brought us all together in this forum ( and beyond ).......

Praise God your Dad is home and recovering. I will continue to pray for healing. Thanks for sharing you AA strength with us. I am amazed at how when all hell breaks loose, we don't even desire to drink. "All we really have is a daily reprieve contingent on maintenance of our spiritual condition." When we have an AA lifestyle........not just going to AA, but living AA........we work on our spiritual condition at all times. Your input here on this forum hones and sharpens your spiritual condition. Having a sponsor and going to meetings does the same. What you have shared inspires me and I know it does others too. You verify what the Big Book says, "It works, ir really works."
