Run for life 08 ideas...

Rarly comes from up north so later in the season is not good for him.
Bill would also like an earlier date for the Run.
How does last week in July/first week in Aug. sound?

MO, KY, TN, IN, NC are all ok with me for distances to travel.

Deal's Gap

Blue Ridge Parkway (Blueridge Parkway) and Skyline Drive from the Front Royal, VA to Cherokee, NC, South of Asheville, through Maggie Valley. Including the Great Smokies into Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and Sevierville Tenn.

Mississippi River

Assateague's Wild Horses MD/VA

Alaska

Ok you have my thoughts and a few ideas.
How about we all chime in with our own thoughts and ideas and come up with a plan that works well for all.

I'm up for the first week of August. I could probably do a long weekend like Thursday through Sunday.

I'm digging Ironhorse in NC. From there we can ride the Cherohala and Deals Gap. We can also ride into Maggie Valley to the Wheels Through Time Museum. I think finding a place to stay that offers cabins/bunk houses as well as tent camping is a good way to go so everyone will be happy!

That's my 2 cents worth! I look forward to hearing from everyone else!!!

Hugs,
Kym

I just looked at Kym's Iron Horse site http://ironhorsenc.com/, and it looks pretty good to me. Unit prices are affordable, and the location is great for riding in almost any direction!

Thumbs up Dont care

I really dont care where, (this side of the Mississippi). It's the when that matters in my house. First week of Aug is much-much better than anything close to Sept.

Iron Horse in NC the first week of August gets my vote. The website looks very cool. We could pack a whack of us into one of those cabins....

Ironhorse.

But if we have to move to WA, I may not make it.

DC is but a few hours away *LOL*

I knew that. I was being a wiseguy.

Back when I lived in Maine, I called U Haul for a price on a truck rental.
I asked how much from Portland to Boston. They give me a price for 5 days rental. I asked and how much without a driver? I tell them I can pack and unload and do the trip in one day. They were thinking Portland OR... I was in Portland ME.

I would like to put a motion out there to set aside the first week of August at Ironhorse in NC as the official gathering place of RFL 08'. I further propose that if'n he accepts, the originator of RFL be voted in as chairperson of this coming year's festivities. What do you say Hammer? You up for it Bro....?

Right after I submitted my seconds, Jackie told me that, because the school board is pushing back the start of the '08-'09 academic year, she may be working that first week of August. She won't know for sure until sometime next year.

Whatever her summer schedule turns out to be, she's definitely going back to South Africa in July, to direct another women's retreat. Depending on the school board's decision, she may have to take time off to make that trip, which means she won't have any days left to accompany me to NC.

I told her I'm gonna miss her.

What an amazing woman she appears to be! I still listen to that CD on my way to work...it's calming!! I'll miss not getting to meet her....

I respectfully accept the nomination to direct the '08 RFL. I will get to work on the details. I am thinking of startin an information page on a separate website. That way we can communicate here, and I can pass boatloads of info without cloggin stuff up here. Dig? Group conscience will rule the day on all details.

You da man Jimmy. Thanks for takin' this on. Yeeehaaaaw, but it will be a most excellent adventure. Who knows, we may end up with a boatload of folks too. We will definitely have enough for a few good ole' fashioned campground A.A. meetings....., I'm startin' to get exited already. Bonnie is toying with the idea of joining us next year, but if she decides against it, I sure am gonna miss her too....LOL

On the sitcom How I Met Your Mother (which Jackie and I love) one character always says "It'll be legendary!"

Well, '07 is already legendary, and I have a feeling '08 will be even more legend... (wait for it)

Yea buddy. After the separate site is uploaded and on the net, I will ask for votes on places to put links up. For example:

Biker Heaven.com
Recovery.org

...and more,

Also, we can put together flyers to post at our home clubs, we gotta get newcomers to ride in brothers and sisters! It's ALL about the one who still suffers! If just one drunk gets help through all this, it will all have been worth eery effort and every dime we sink into it.

Can you diiiiiiggg it?
