Welcome Home...........welcome back from 28 days of treatment. One day at a time and don't take that first drink. It will not mix with your prescription drugs. Are you attending meetings? If you have it in your heart to ride again, and it is in God's will, nothing can stop that from materializing. Share more with us rafe..........toad

Welcome Rafe! Glad you found us. Our AA Big Book has the following statement at the beginning of the 5th Chapter, " Rarely have we seen a person fail who has thoroughly followed our path." We are all living proof of that fact in this forum. Don't drink, go to AA meetings, join a home group, get a sponsor and start working the steps. If you do that, your life is guaranteed to improve. I too, have to take prescription medication, but I loudly interrogate my Doctor about anything he prescribes, reminding him that I am an alchoholic and drug addict, and I will nottake any medication that is either mood altering or addictive. I have been clean & sober on this method since March 21st, 1990. I am doing it, so can you.....

Rafe, Three years ago I had a bad work accident - 35' fall, broken back and leg, mangled foot, nerve damage, PTSD and depression, and a bunch of operations and procedures. I've had to cope with pain meds, and had to work hard to maintain my sobriety. I've been back on my bikes for short rides, so far, but am looking forward to putting more miles on in the next year or so. I also have some experience with adapting motorcycles for use by handicapped riders, and (if you need any adaptations) I'll be glad to pass on what info I have. There are aftermarket parts available (trike kits, electronic gear-shifters, reverse gears, etcetera) to overcome or adapt for almost any limitation. If you want to ride, you probably can! In the meanwhile, keep working on your recovery and rehabilitation, keep coming back, and keep us posted on your progress. We'll be praying for you.

Thank youall for being so nice and also for the suggestions giving me. Ive been going to aa since 99' and i navent drink since 1-11-01. But i did start abuse my pain medicene again. So ive recommitted to make 90 meetings in 90 days again and im off to good start.I had let fear, angry and self pity take me over once again and did not do the things aa had taught me to do. But it nice to talk to some other bikers in recovery and Billj i may have some questions about some of those parts oneday. Thank you all and God bless ya'll Rafe
