The toad and the hurricane - SoberRecovery : Alcoholism Drug Addiction Help and Information

Sounds like the title of a novel.............it is part of a story of recovery about two guys who grew up in different parts of the country, eighteen years difference in age, and they met because they took interest in passing on what they had received.

This past weekend (July 27-29, 2007), AA in the state of Missouri (Area 38 and 39), had their state convention. It was held in Jefferson City next to the state capital building on the banks of the Missouri River. The convention was a wonderful time with speakers, workshops, dances, and a banquet. But the highlight for this ole boy was the Saturday morning ride that myself and a friend took. We climbed on our scooters and took a forty-five minute ride through the Ozarks to a small town on the shores of a lake to attend a meeting. There in the church parking lot where the meeting is held was a beautiful silver Indian. The rider had dismounted and was headed to the basement to make coffee. As we pulled into the parking lot I knew I was about to meet the hurricane. There might have been some difference in age and backgrounds, but we were "like the passengers of a great liner the moment after rescue from shipwreck when comaraderie, joyousness, and democracy pervade the vessel from steerage to Captain's table" (Big Book page 17). The toad and the hurricane sharing in a meeting, their experience strength and hope. After the meeting the hurricane followed us a few miles out of town. Thanks for the meeting and the hospitality. Beautiful bike...............Keep coming back!

You guys made my weekend, it was a great meeting and I look forward to returning the visit. Wish I could have made the convention, maybe next year.

I was looking at the map and wondering why my ride would take so long.
I am sure I would have looked for the correct address before heading out the door *LOL*
