| Mertyl's first Surgery
Well, the hammer strolled with a spring in his step out to the garage morn before last, saddled Mertyl out and bumped the starter button and received an almost gratuitous whine from the starter motor, but no engagement. I knew immediately what the issue was. Not that I am any HD wizard, I just knew that when I bought her she had High Comp ported and flowed Screamin Eagle heads on her and a stock starter. A recipe for failed starter drive assemblies. I hopped in me truck and toodled off to work, somewhat miffed, even though I knew it was comin, it still pissed this drunk off. Just typical alcoholic that I am. I tore into her with a vengeance and got the job done in about 3 hours, most of that rejuvenatin fluids. Which brings me to some questions for you brethren and sisters ridin Big Twin B's. I put a full Synth 20-50 in BOTH, the Primary drive and the Engine, Dig it? Or is this a poor move for the Summer? If not why not, and vicey versey.

I am not sure about the seasonal aspect of running different weights.....but I do know that I run full synethic 20-50 in my crankcase, primary, and transmission. The same oil.....I use the high dollar screaming eagle HD brand ($10 a quart). Running the same oil is what the dealer recomended.

Yep Hammer, sometimes things happen to tick us off...especially when it comes to our bikes!! I must tell you all that FINALLY, I (yes, me all by myself) fixed my bike. I had been battling with Honda of Lexington ordering the wrong part, then having to wait 5 days for it to come in and having then to wait 4-5 days for my dad to come help me only to find out we still had the wrong piece. This went on for way too long...so..... I took off the slave cylinder, took off the crank case cover. I went online and found the exact part number I needed. I ordered it overnight (yes, I paid $26 for a $3 part!!) and picked it up the next day. I then replaced the oil seals in the crank case cover, put the new gasket on and replaced the cover. Then I put on the new slave cylinder and TA DA..no more leaks. I know the task may not seem like much to those mechanics out there, but for this ol' gal to be able to do it ALL by herself, well, it was a major accomplishment!!! I called my dad and said "Hey dad, I'm sitting here in my garage, oil covered hands, jamming to some Skynard, eating cold chicken wings from last night and I have fixed my bike!" He said "That's my girl"! Ain't nothin' like bein' a daddys girl at 41 years old!! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So, I am back in the wind!! YIPEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
