Hi everyone I'm new to the site (and I love it already) and was wondering if anyone is going to ride out to Akron this year. I went last for the first time and had a blast !!

Welcome Jack. That may be a busy week around these parts but I am loking to give it a try. People keep sayng how great it is that I think it is a must for me this year. About 11 hours by car I think from me. Will see what happens once the bike is on the road.

| Akron
I'm getting pumped for Akron. My first time. Bonnie doesn't want to go, so a fellow AA rider is coming with me. We will be bunking into the Best Western downtown on Thursday May 7th. I phoned Akron Intergroup and they told me the Best Western is where all the bikers hang out. We want to do the Mayflower lobby , Henrietta Seiberling's gate house and Dr. Bob's house on Friday, before we hit the conference. The Best Western phone number is 1-330-794-1050 and our room will be under my name, George Radford. Whoever is coming, it would be great to connect for the above tour on Friday and the motorcycle procession to Dr. Bob's grave Sunday morning. I heard from Akron intergroup that about 4,000 bikes take part in that. Awesome.....Looking forward to seeing you all. So far, it looks like Jack, Kym and Best, right....?

Unfortunately Kym has to bale out this year. My son is in cub scouts and they are having a leader's retreat that weekend where we will plan activities for the next year. I want to be a part of that so I can have input as to what my son will be doing and learning in scouts. Maybe next year? I'm glad I'll still get to see all of you at our campout! Take some pics and post them and or bring them to the campout so I can see all those cool places!

My youngest son is active Navy and was granted leave...guess when? Upon his return from leave they will be getting the ship ready for 9 months at sea. Akron would take away two days of dad time with son. Cats in the cradle and the silver moon... When you coming home son, I don't know when, we'll get together then...

Guzzi, If you're in Ohio, maybe you'd like to join us at Versailles, Indiana (just west of Cincinnati) over Labor Day Weekend. See these threads for details: http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...yin-woods.html http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...important.html

Yup. First time too. Totally awesome. Visited the Mayflower lobby, Dr. Bob's house, the Akron archives, the Seiberling gatehouse, Akron Intergroup and the big meeting Saturday night in the JAR arena. 5,300 drunks in the JAR, another 5,000 plus in satellite arenas. Drunks everywhere. Met folks from England, Australia, Ireland and a whole bunch of States of the US of A. To top it all off, I rode my Harley in the 2,000 plus motorcycle procession to Dr. Bob's gravesite on Sunday morning. The weather was sunny and 80 degrees plus everyday and I really enjoyed blasting around with no helmet. A trip of a lifetime....! When I get my pics thumbnailed, I'll post a few....
