Hey all.I am still having trouble sleeping but it is improving. It was good to get out of the house and get to a meeting. My daughter took me friday.Another member yesterday as to weak and shaky to drive. Also a first to have the member come into my house and sit and meet my family. I must be STILL detoxing as my legs ache so much BUT i can eat now and walk downstairs. jen |

I drove my daughters car yesterday to a meeting despite not feeling great. It was a good meeting to me despite for the first time i saw over half my friends leave and go home or not speak and there was silence. the person who opened it did not stay for the beginning.Than a visitor from another country with 43yrs sobriety was asked to chair and it was competely different to anything i have ever heard.I actually am finding it difficult to understand BUT i will hand it over. Just for today card is coming in so handy jen |

Hjen: Glad you went to a meeting. Please remember that just because people are in A.A. or N.A., doesn't mean they are well...This is your life and your recovery. Go shopping Hjen. Go to as many different meetings as you can find, then join the one that is the most comfortable for you, make it your Home Group and never miss a Home Group Meeting if you can possibly help it. You are on the right track. Keep it up ODAT, we are all pulling for you....

Thankyou.I have a home group and it was my first meeting place dec 18th2002 and always try and go every week.I rang my sponsor and told her of my uneasiness at Mondays meeting and as she was not there she could only guess. Was it because the chairperson is unwell despite 43 sober? or was it the people that left did not like the format of the meeting being changed by a visitor from another country? I do not know. Thanks again as i am up not sleeping BUT reading and am grateful for your help jen |

Hi All-- New to the forum, just wanted to introduce myself. I live in Clinton, Connecticut, where everyone talks like Mr. Howell from Gilligan's Island :-) I deeply love AA, which absolutely saved my butt, and currently serve as treasurer for my home group, The Serenity by the Sea meeting on Wednesday nights at 7:00 in the Unitarian Church in Madison, CT. Stop by if you are in the neighborhood. I hope to find a club or group to ride with. I was an avid biker back in the 70's and 80's --for about a year my Yamaha XS 650 was my only means of transportation. Got older, finished school, married, divorced, sober, back to more school, re-married, etc. and decided to get back on a bike in August. Took the MSF course (never think you have it all wired--I learned that in AA) and bought my current ride, a 1999 Kawasaki Vulcan 750--has about 11K miles on it and is in super shape with Corbin pipes. Beautiful to ride in peak leaf season on the Connecticut back roads! Anyway, my best to all :-) Jeff |
