Toy? Not the ones I've shot! Kick like a mule! I'm partial to .38s and .357s, myself. Just wish I had easier access to a shooting range.

| Sober in Daytona??
Hi everybody. Long story short, I'm two months sober and a friend has invited me to Daytona Bike Week. I'm not a biker and I've already figured out that Daytona has as much to do with being sober as a pig has to do with a Jew keeping kosher. Nonetheless, I'm still asking: Are there meetings down there? A sober bikers' club?? Thanks for listening!

Welcome dsc.. theres quite a few of us out there amongst all of them. At concerts, bike events, etc. with a litte research ahead of time you can find others that will be there. Sometimes sober contacts or meetings are listed at the event sites. Other times you can find us through the little telltale patches and helmet stickers. Warch for friend of BillW or Jimmy K patches. I meet up with some when I spot a clean and crazy or higher powered helmet sticker on a bike or some go to the trouble to leave hints in their bike's paint jobs. Stick around. I bet the rest of the crew will be here to welcome you and give you some more tips.. |

Gooch is right. If you absolutely must go, there are all sorts of ways to hook up with sober folks. You can bet your bottom dollar there will be sober clubs and associations, and sober independents, at the rally itself. There will also be AA and NA listings on-line and in the telephone book. The big question, though, is: "At two months sober, do I really need to be around all that drinkin' and druggin'?" That's a question only you can answer, but your life depends on your answering it honestly.

Hi Billj thanks for the welcome. Hope you are doing well. I need prayer!! I am being led to a ministry in Boone NC. I have been visiting and volunteering for quite some time. The Lord is showing me that I am to be there. I'm just not sure when. I am traveling alot back and forth I am there about 2 wks and come home for a couple of days. When I'm home I feel I need to be there. There are expense issues and I know the Lord will work them out. Just pray for me I know he is faithful, I tend to be impatient!!

Welcome! and thanks for posting your concerns .. I tend to be impatient as well. Funny thing is that I need to have a surgery and have the insurance but have been worried that I might not have the finances to cover those monthly bills while I am recuperating. Work has been scarce and with the weather we are having now is probably a great time to schedule that operation, but I've been procrastinating on calling the doctor, thinking that I might be able to get one or 2 more days of work toward those bills.. I have some stuff I can Ebay and that may be the way through. I just had a chat with my estranged girlfriend and she is gently nudging me to make the call. Your post seems to have been the confirmation I needed that I will be fine if I just put one foot in front of the other and walk where God leads me. Thanks. |
