...lumps

I like to hang out here and read the posts from grateful drunks. I like to hang out at the club and listen to pearls of wisdom fall from the lips of folks whom once were hudled in the cold of winter on park benches; with a bottle of ripple in a shivvering hand. I like to go out fer coffee with recovering drunks and listen to other people that I never met, tell me my story while unwittingly thinking it wa their own.

I like seein an ol' boy get on a Road King after wonderin fer years whee the hell his next meal was comin from, an seein his face full a pride as he stands by her.

All of it gives me lumps where the road dust settles.

I like it a lot, best damned high I ever had.

Jimmy

Jerry, I'm not a biker at the moment but I'd sure like to own one again someday.

I can damn sure relate to that high one only gets in sobriety though.

Thanks for sharing.

Ain't it the most? :andy:

I'm a sentimental sucker. I see some ol' boy (or gal) shake off the demons and start putting their life back together, and I start weeping like a baby. Watching that miracle unfold is one of the great bennies of staying sober for a while.

I highly recommend it!

Yea man. The newcomer and the ol' timer. I love 'em equal. They aint picky who they drop those pearls o' wisdom on, cuz they got em fer free themselves. What a price we paid to get em huh? Worth every tear. The Toad was who tore me up and got me to thinking with his new RK, I was bawlin like a chick watchin "Love Story", thats why all the typos. Sorry about those.

Blessings Back at All O Ya,

Jimmy

Bein a biker aint about whether or not yer ridin at the moment (5 back surgeries keep me lookin fer a smoother putt), it's who ya are. Just like AA says, "The only requirement for membership is a sincere desire to stay sober...", bein a scooter person is just lovin the wind in yer face and the freedom it brings. It's a double bonus when yer a sober biker, cuz yer free from the crap and free in the wind.

Blessings to you my brother!

Jimmy

This sounds like poetry.

I kept wondering where all the “Renaissance” men had gone and now I know…

Real Music, real poetry comes from the sincere heart. Everything I ever wrote as a two-bit musician in pub band, that was worth the match to burn it up; was when some chick gave me the heave-ho, or I was broke, busted and disgusted.

[QUOTE I kept wondering where all the “Renaissance” men had gone and now I know…[/QUOTE]

I like the sound of that Sheryl. We certainly went through our own private wars to get here. When you get us old road dogs to drop our weapons and armour, we discover we have hearts of gold, unlimited compassion and love, all the things we were deathly afraid of revealing in the past....What I love about this site is I get to meet other sober bikers, men and women, who have also dropped thier weapons and armour, and are willing to reveal thier true selves. I have found no greater joy in my A.A. recovery than helping another drunk come out of the shivering shadows of "the other side or the tracks". I have worked with other drunks from the "normal" segment of society, but I relate more to my own kind. Thank God I've never been called a "Metrosexual" LOL....

Jimmy,
Can't pick one. It's like listening to your favorite album... All of them have a rhythm of their own...

Rarly is absolutely right. At one time I not only would never have revealed such "weakness", I certainly would have had no pity for anyone such as myself. The armour was always on and the weapons within quick grasp, if not in hand.

I love my life, And this thread, although it certainly exposes my strengths it also exposes, extends my love of those folks around me that are traveling/have traveled the road I'm on. We're special, very gentle, love soaked and loyal. Tempered like steel from our past pains and failures. We are what we are, no more, and sure as hell no less.

Blessings,

Jimmy

P.S. To God be the glory, great things He has done. Not me. Not one stinkin thing, not these words, not the breath I draw. I am but a vessel. An extension of His hand.

Y'all are really some special people.

Loved the slide show. Of course I had to break out the hankies on that one. And earlier when I read on one of the other posts about the stock seat causing a loud whine from the back of the bike... I haven't laughed that hard in awhile. It's pretty neat to be able to read stuff from a group of folks that can make you laugh and then move you to tears. That ability only comes from the heart.

Yes indeed...some really special people.

It's an insidious disease. Like the story of the guy with 25 years sober. He retires, score a bottle of hooch, downs it, and goes to get another one. On the way home he kills a little girl; runs her down in the street as I recall. Whenever I decide I am well, I like to read that story. Or come here, or got to a meeting; just to see if I am willing to trade it all away.

I aint ready to trade today.

Blessings to you; My People,

Jimmy

I got People.
