Hey guys/gals: I was wondering if anyone knew of an event in Virginia, Tennessee, South Carolina or that area that was similar to the MMAAC (Midwest Motorcycle Alcoholics Anonymous Convention)? Thanks, Kym

Kym, I have a friend (sober female rider) who lives in North Carolina. I'm going to ask her if she knows of any events in the region.

Kym, My friend wrote back. She sez: Bill, All we have in this area are some regular AA gatherings. Then "uncaged bikers does a thing in mid summer for the weekend which is pretty cool & cost nothing. When Rebel Fest is set for a date I can send you that info. Its all bikers/AA at one of our SBU members house on the lake in Denton, NC. Other then that we have to make our own agendas. When my friend sends the Rebel Fest info I'll pass it on. In the meanwhile, you might try googling "sober bikers," or look at the "events" link on sober clubs' websites. I googled "sober bikers" just now, and got a bunch of hits. A couple of likely sources might be: www.soberbikersunited.org www.southernsoberbiker.tripod.com/ http://groups.msn.com/CLEANSOBERBIKERS/aanaevents.msnw and http://groups.msn.com/CLEANSOBERBIKERS/bikerevents.msnw (where you can also post a query about sober events), and http://www.xwinos-mc.com/du/sobermcs.htm (which has a lengthy list of C&S clubs from around the world, including several in Virginia and the Carolinas) However, while checking for events, I went to www.sobermc.com, owned by a club in Rockford, IL, and it tried to load a spyware on my computer. Fortunately, my Norton caught it, but I'd recommend you avoid that site, and make sure your firewall or anti-virus program is set to catch spyware as you surf. Hope this helps.

| Good bunch o' folks, IMHO, with the potential to be a really great thing for sober riders. I still act as an SBU contact here in Texas, when called to do so.

I got an idea, why dont you and anyone that is interested start a convention of recovering bikers on the East Coast? I am a member of the Sober Riders MC and we do something out west in Jan but it is a club run. I just happened to move back to MD last summer and haven't gotten anything started yet. Check out our website, all one word; soberridersmc dot com

| You might check out SBU's Nat'l. It'll be held in upstate New York this year. I think it's in late July.
