Well s#it. Guess I don’t get out enough.
Thank you all. Never thought I would have been making this post that is for sure. It has been an amazing year. Sometimes I wanted to chew on a shotgun, but I stuck it out. Like I said in another thread, when I started doing the “do”, I started to feel better. For this alcoholic, step work is not a suggestion. It’s mandatory. If I didn’t want to do something, my sponsor would just smile and say “So, you don’t want to get better?” I would just sigh and say “Yes, damn it! But I don’t want to do that!” To which his retort would be “Well, tough.” About the 6 month marker, low and behold…. I started to feel better.
When I got done with 4, 5 and 6 I was soaring! Then something happened. I had a spiritual experience, one of many in the last couple of months. Then the true miracle of this program came to pass for me. I was relieved of my obsession and compulsion to drink.
Let me back up a little so you can truly understand what I’m saying. I was an agnostic/atheist and struggled in the beginning with the whole HP thing. One day someone said to me “You pray to whatever will have you or you are going to fcuking die!” I didn’t understand God, but I understood dying alright. So, I prayed. A good friend of mine in the program said I could pray like this, “Who ever or what ever you are…..” The thing is, I didn’t have to believe. I just had to be willing to believe. Once I became willing to believe, God revealed Himself to me. The more willing I became, the more I came to know. It’s just that easy man! Right! Try putting it to principle, it’s quite an obstacle. But one that can be overcome. Like the 12x12 says, willingness is the key to everything.
Today, I am truly free. I thank God every day, for He has truly blessed me. Here is the real blessing…. I have my whole life to do anything I want. It all started today. I woke up and asked the Lord what he had in store for me today. I have but to do what is in front of me.
Thank you all again. You guys made my day. Best, I’ve got a big hug for you brother

a year huh?

Congrats Tony..

Ok .. guess we gotta get your status line over your avatar edited to read "requires minimal adult supervision." I'd still recommend the proactive combined interactive simultaneous supervision and supervising of a good size group of sober scooter bums.

Keep yer spokes snug and keep on coming round!
