I had a boo boo last night... Man, am I sore today!! Some road rash, bruises etc...but I was able to ride my bike back home. My friend's Harley took a little more of a beatin', but my friend is barely hurt!! Thank HP for that one!! He was able to ride his bike back home too. We didn't make the AA meeting we were going to, but that's okay. I'm just glad he's okay...I hit him in the rear. The sun was in my eyes and I couldn't see that he had stopped. We were on a street in a subdivision so we weren't going very fast at all. I'm so thankful that I had insurance. There was a time in my life that I would have ridden without it, ya know? This program has taught me to always try to do the next right thing....like insure my vehicles!!

We live to see another day, clean and sober....just a little banged up!!!

Love and hugs from the very sore, road rashed, Kym from Kentucky!!!

Glad you are OK Kym. A little road rash can be a good thing. It made me remember not to crack Annie's throttle in the apex of a corner in October, when the air temp. is 60 degrees, but the asphalt temp. is only about 40 degrees. Awfull feelin' when your slidin' down the asphalt collecting road rash and watchin' your ride slidin' down the road ahead of ya...LOL

Goodness Kym,
I'm glad that you are OK. There have been a lot of accidents up this way this summer. There was a couple from TN that was riding up around Bangor that was in an accident the other day. The man lost one of his legs and part of his hip and I think his wife was pretty banged up too. One of my brothers has been going to the hospital and praying for them. The person that hit them was under the influence of something or another and didn't realize that she had hit a bike. She didn't stop until the front tire of the truck went flat and she went into the guard rail. I was thinking about it and there but for the grace of God goes I. I used to do a lot of OUI. It could have easily been me that hit them back then. Makes me grateful I don't live that way anymore.
Anyway, best wishes sister; you guys will be in my prayers.
Tony

yea rarly..my last summer of active addiction i didn't ride ONCE!!! Never came out in the day light, some life huh? I remember that first summer clean..riding as the sun was rising clear headed and loving it..i knew there was a God I knew how special it was to have been given this gift of recovery. The road is where i have my best heart to heart with my H.P. its where all the voices in my head finely shut up. Last summer I road to TX for the World NA convention. the guys that were going with me had things come up, so I saddled up solo. Strange but i didn't pull in to TX that way. Id come out of a gas station there would be another rider start talkin get asked where i was heading id say Tx then they would say are you heading to the convention? happened the same way on the way back to. What a blessing this way of life has been, Cant wait to see what else is in store

Me, too! For years I've told folks my motorcycle is just "two-cylinder meditation".

I wear an AA "desire chip" on my riding vest, and have "anniversary chips" mounted on each of my motorcycles. I also have "First Things First" stickers on my shovel's hard bags. For me, it's about reminding myself where the toys and the freedom to enjoy them come from, and letting others know there's joy and fun in recovery.

Anyhoo, between the chips and the stickers, I can't tell you how many times I've been approached by fellow AAs - often when I desperately needed contact with others in recovery! We've had mini-meetings in gas station parking lots, at truck-stops, and in roadside rest areas. "Anywhere two or more are gathered...," right?

I also had the experience of being enroute to a sober gathering, only to have a fellow C&S rider fall in with me. We were still a full day's ride from our destination, but when he spotted my bike in a diner parking lot, he knew I was in recovery, too. He walked in, walked right up to my table, and said "Are you going to Cedaredge?" We rode together for most of the next week, 'til we each headed for home.

Yeah, this sober life is chock-full o' blessings!
