Dr. Mark, My husband has been diagnosed with bi-polar, post-traumatic stress disorder and social anxiety disorder. He's seeing a psychiatrist and a psychologist and is taking Depakota, Lexapro and Clonazapram. However, he also uses marijuana. Obsessively. He says that he needs it because his drugs aren't doing enough to help him stay calm. Here's the catch. He only does the marijuana when he can get his hands on it, which sometimes isn't for months. So, he goes months without it, but when he gets some he smokes it all day, every day until its gone. It doesn't matter if we have some event or occasion planned, he'll still smoke it. He says that I'm overreacting because he doesn't use it all the time. I say he's an addict and he needs to get treatment. Am I overreacting?

Dear Confused; First, let me welcome you to SR! ![]() Mark will be here to answer your concerns. In the meantime, why not go to the mental health forum, and the naranon forum. There, you will find others who are dealing with similar issues. Also, using any other drug is not good when one is on medications. I'm thinking of you... ![]() Shalom!

I think your husband may have a problem with marijuana and I don't think you're overreacting to it. He's got 2 professionals working with him so I would discuss it with them.
