| Did I Jump The Gun By Taking Meds?
I went to a family physician for the first time. I told him I was interested in going on anti-depressants. For one, my Mom and my sister are on it and my other siblings NEED to be on it, and secondly because I had compulsive tendencies. He put me on Effexor 150 mg. For the first few years, it seemed to work well. However, this year, I started noticing feelings of depression. I never felt depressed before when I originally went on them. So, recently I started seeing a psychologist. I've only gone a few times. Not enough to feel the benefits. Yesterday I found your website and read a lot of information that your experts wrote. I'm beginning to wonder if I ever needed to be on meds in the first place. The responses I read make it seem like a good therapist can usually cure the depression, but in some cases, medicine is needed. My Mom has been on Effexor most of her life and my sister will probably be too. I just assumed that I probably have a chemical imbalance where I will need to be on it for the rest of my life as well. |

You may not need anti-depressants and I think its something you can explore with your psychologist. Keep going and I think you'll understand a great deal more about your situation.
