i was diagnosed with OCD as a child.i have been on xanax,ativan,librium,mellerall,navane,and every antidepressant you can think of.for the last 2 1/2 yrs i have been drinking heavily.i have been using klonapin and xanax for about 6 months.it was not prescribed .i was an almost daily user of methamphetamine for 1 1/2 yrs.i have quit meth for 8 wks.i am able to quit consuming alcohol when i have xanax or another benzo.i went to my doctor and told her everything.she prescribed 100 mg of atarax and 50 mg of zoloft.i requested the zoloft because it has helped me in the past.the atarax she said was to help me stop drinking.it does nothing for the withdrawal of alcohol or the benzos for me.i am continuing to drink and find any benzo i can.i'm tired of just barely existing and not living.is it against the law for my dr to prescribe benzos to get off alcohol and then taper off of them?i am taking very small amounts of benzos just to not suffer withdrawal.1 to 2 mg xanax or 2 mg klonopin is what i've been taking.considering i have anxiety problems i don't understand why staying on xanax or klonopin would be bad for me anyhow.

I'd recommend you stop drinking and only take prescription drugs as your Doc prescribes them. A drug is not apporpriate to get off alcohol and it won't work.

I highly and strongly recommend you listen to your Doc, get sober, and go to AA meetings daily because you're out of control and doing things that are a danger to yourself.
